The biggest upgrade here is WiFi 7. Netgear rates the BE9300 for combined speeds of up to 9.3Gbps across its three wireless bands and says it can be up to 2.4 times faster than WiFi 6. Unlike a basic dual-band router, it operates across 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands. Each serves a slightly different purpose. The 2.4GHz band generally offers better range and works well with smart-home devices, while 5GHz provides a useful balance between speed and coverage. The newer 6GHz band provides additional high-speed capacity for compatible devices.
The BE9300 also supports up to 100 connected devices, which gives it plenty of capacity for a modern connected home. That number can sound excessive until you count everything using WiFi: phones, tablets, laptops, consoles, TVs, speakers, smart bulbs, cameras, doorbells, appliances, and other IoT hardware can quickly add up.

Coverage is rated at up to 2,500 square feet, making the router suitable for many medium-to-large homes when positioned correctly. However, WiFi coverage isn’t determined by square footage alone. Thick walls, multiple floors, concrete, metal, neighboring networks, and the router’s placement can all affect the signal.
You also get two 2.5 Gig LAN ports and two Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports. The 2.5GbE connections are useful for devices that can benefit from additional local network bandwidth, such as gaming PCs, high-performance desktops, or NAS systems. Meanwhile, the Gigabit ports are good for devices such as smart TVs and consoles.
Netgear also uses the Nighthawk app to simplify setup and everyday management. The app guides you through getting the router online rather than requiring you to manually configure everything through a browser interface. Once the network is running, you can use the app to check WiFi settings, run internet speed tests, create a guest network, and pause internet access for individual devices.
Is this router worth getting?
The Netgear Nighthawk BE9300 makes the most sense for a household that already has, or plans to add, WiFi 7 devices, a fast internet connection, and a large number of connected products. Its tri-band design gives newer devices access to the 6GHz spectrum, while support for up to 100 devices provides plenty of capacity for a busy connected home. However, while its 2,500-square-foot coverage should be enough for many homes, very large or multi-floor properties may be better served by a mesh system.
