What we like about this ASUS V16 gaming laptop
Streamlined, ultra-stylish design
While some gaming laptops can look a little bombastic and bulky, this laptop goes in the opposite direction, with futuristic design features and a more streamlined form factor. It’s the type of laptop that packs a punch for gaming, but wouldn’t look out of place in more professional environments or more minimal setups, too.
It packs a great 50-series graphics card, with all the latest Blackwell features
You’ve got an RTX 5060 mobile here, which is a brilliant entry-level RTX 50-series graphics card that doesn’t completely break the bank but does give you a lot of bang for your buck. It features 8GB of GDDR7 VRAM, 4th-gen ray tracing cores, 5th-gen tensor cores, and MFG upscaling, which make it excellent for FHD gaming at high refresh rates and settings. And, it’s also a winner for content creation, while keeping laptop costs closer to the $1,000 mark, too.
Intel Core 7 processor 240H is a cost-effective winner for gaming and workstation usage
This CPU has 10 cores and 16 threads, with a 5.2GHz boost clock speed and 24MB Intel Smart cache, making it a strong option for multitasking, handling multithreaded workloads in applications like Premiere Pro and Photoshop, and gaming at high fps with low frame latency. It’s also an efficient option, coming in at a base TDP of 45W.
An excellent all-rounder display for the price
You’ve got a WUXGA display here, which is FHD+, and gives you a bit more space to work with, but still retains its higher pixel density for crisp, clear picture quality. That’s great for gaming, everyday usage, and any creative work, too. On top of that, it has a 144Hz refresh rate, which makes it well-suited to competitive and fast-paced gaming.
A good amount of DDR5 RAM
Not all RTX 5060 laptops have DDR5, so getting 16GB of it here is a win. It’s going to improve gaming performance, multitasking, and allow you to work on larger files, like complex video projects or huge Photoshop documents, without running into too much slowdown.
Should you go for this deal?
This is the type of laptop that’s going to be great for those who want something for hybrid usage that, from a design perspective, doesn’t necessarily look like a gaming laptop. If you’re looking for something for work and gaming, then this is a very strong option to go for at this price point.
If you’re looking for full-on gaming performance, you may want to explore some options from the likes of ASUS TUF and Acer Nitro. These are often very affordable and lean more towards gaming performance than super sleek design. They’re often on sale, too, so be sure to check our top gaming laptop deals below to see what’s out there.
