Features to consider in Amazon Spring Sale gaming laptop deals
When shopping for a gaming laptop during the Amazon Spring Sale, keep the following features in mind.
GPU
A high-quality graphics card is essential for top-notch visuals. Pretty much all gaming laptops come equipped with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX series or Intel’s new ARC GPUs. For 1080p gaming an RTX 3060 or above is a good choice although a later 4000 series will provide better graphical effects like ray tracing as well as more efficient frame rate production.
Laptop GPUs are less powerful than PC versions due to size constraints so it’s important to remember that you won’t get the same performance from a laptop RTX 4070 as you would a PC version of the same GPU. If you’re looking for 1440p to 1600p definition you’re going to want to look for a RTX 4070 Ti or RTX 4080 armed gaming laptop, but be warned, these machines can often spiral upwards of $2000.
CPU
Look for a model with a powerful processor such as an Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 for smooth gameplay and fast load times. When gaming it’s important to see if the game is more graphically intense or processor intense, if you’re a fan of 4X games like Civ or Paradox games they can be very taxing on your CPU without needing a tonne from your GPU.
Display
The laptop’s display is also important. Look for a model with a high refresh rate of at least 120Hz for smooth, fluid motion during gameplay, and a high resolution of at least 1080p for impressive visuals. While 4K displays do exist for gaming laptops, we would warn against them as the dimensions don’t allow for good quality while also demanding a tonne of effort from your machine.
RAM
Consider models with at least 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage to ensure that your laptop can handle demanding games and large files.
