This Amazon Ember 50-inch 4-Series TV is at its best price since the end of August, with a solid $90 off, coming in at $309.99. That’s a decent price point considering what you’re getting here, which is something that’s ultimately a more budget-friendly pick designed to do the basics well without completely breaking the bank. Now, since this is a more affordable 50-inch TV, it’s not packed to the gills with premium features, which makes it pretty straightforward to understand. It’s an LED TV, which puts it below QLED, Mini-LED, and OLED, but still means you’re getting good color, contrast, and brightness. It has a 60Hz refresh rate, which means it can hit 60fps in 4K. That’s pretty standard and means that it’ll have decent motion handling and be suitable for casual gaming, too. Notably, this TV supports HDR10+, which is a win for movie nights and streaming shows in HDR. HDR10+ is a good-to-have here, as it means the TV can change picture settings dynamically, rather than applying a static setting throughout.

Is this TV right for you? Well, I’d say that if you’re sticking to a budget and want something relatively large as your main screen, or you want a second screen for a bedroom, office, or guest room, then this is a solid pick for the price.

What we like about this Amazon Ember 50-inch 4-Series TV

Versatile sizing

At 50 inches, it’s larger than smaller 43-inch models, which gives you a slightly more immersive experience, but still not too massive that it completely dominates your living space. For a smaller room, where you may be sitting closer to the screen, it’s a good way to go.

Fire TV experience

Super user-friendly, with everything easily found in one place. It works with Alexa and can also be used to control and manage your smart home devices, too.

Omnisense technology is a welcome touch

There are sensors in this TV that can detect when you enter a room, and then switch on the display to show your favorite artwork. This is great if you want to counter the fairly unappealing large, dark grey rectangle look of an idle TV, and have something a bit more visually appealing.

Decent HDR compatibility

HDR10+ and HLG support are both relatively standard; however, they can make a notable difference when watching content. HDR10+, in particular, is going to help prevent images from looking blown out, as it allows the TV to change settings more dynamically, rather than just having a fixed setting throughout.

Things to consider before buying

As mentioned, this is an LED TV, so it’s on the entry-level side. If you want better picture quality, I’d suggest looking at QLEDs as the next step up. With a quantum dot layer, these will provide better overall color, and you’ll most likely find slightly more comprehensive HDR support with most options, too.
