There’s no denying AMD currently owns the high-end desktop (HEDT) CPU market. The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D is part of the reason, and although its role as Team Red’s top processor shifted to the 9950X3D2, the original still has loads to offer. That includes much better value, further enhanced by the latest Amazon deal for the 9950X3D. Right now, you can get the performance-pushing gem for $569, not $699. That’s the lowest it’s been at the retailer, and so much capability for $130 off.

Why we love the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
Phenomenal productivity, whatever you need
Just one processor beats the 9950X3D across productivity tests: the $890 Ryzen 9 9950X3D2. But it doesn’t beat it by $300+ worth of performance. Sure, if you have $900 to spend on a CPU, the X3D2 model is better. Otherwise, the 9950X3D is the obvious choice for the very best productivity performance, outscoring the non-X3D Ryzen 9 9950X and Intel’s best alternatives across all benchmarks.
Superb for gaming too
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D really is an amazing processor for all facets of PC use. That includes performance in modern games, where it usually trades blows with the best CPU for gaming, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Yes, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is far better value if you’re focusing on gaming performance alone, but the 9950X3D has two sides to its performance coin. And if you want everything to run speedily, regardless of task, it’s the CPU to pick.

Efficient and overclockable
This deal’s value isn’t just about the performance you get from the Ryzen 9 9950X3D. For a 16-core, 32-thread productivity and gaming beast, the processor is proven as surprisingly efficient. It puts its 170W power draw to good use. And there’s room for more performance if you want to overclock the processor. That’s a personal decision, of course, since it voids the AMD warranty.
What to consider before you buy
The most important questions when considering this Ryzen 9 9950X3D deal are the following: do you want a supremely powerful all-round performance PC? If the answer is ‘yes’, the question becomes whether you want to spend $569 on this deal or $890 on the X3D2 variant. If the answer is ‘no, I just want gaming performance’, then you can save money by spending around $420 on the Ryzen 7 9800X3D – which, by the way, is still a decent day-to-day processor in its own right. However, if you know what the 9950X3D is and have been tracking it, this is an excellent opportunity to buy.
