If you’re looking to test the waters with a gaming laptop, but don’t fancy shelling out too much cash, then this is the deal for you. MSI makes some of the best gaming laptops around, but it has something for everyone, and this particular machine is designed with performance and versatility at its core – making it an excellent option for first-time gaming laptop buyers.

Right now, you can score 11% off this MSI Thin, 144hz, RTX 4050 gaming laptop, bringing its price down from $899.99 to $799.99. That’s actually its lowest price ever too, according to price-tracker camelcamelcamel – which is another reason we think it’s a deal worth considering.

Let take a quick look at some of the standout features of this, and who this deal would be ideal for.

MSI Thin 15 15.6” 144Hz FHD Gaming Laptop

Intel Core i7-13620H, NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4050, 16GB DDR4, 512GB NVMe SSD, WiFi 6E, Win 11: Black B13VE-2678US

What we like about this MSI laptop deal

  • RTX 4050 GPU: This is more of a mid-range mobile GPU that’s really at its best when gaming in 1080p resolution at higher settings. It’s not as punchy as some of the other 40-series mobile GPUs, but for the price, the performance is solid and more than enough for most games. If you’re into less graphically demanding titles that are more competitive in nature, this is a card that will be great for you.
  • Intel Core i7-13620H: This is a good, mid-tier CPU that features 6 performance cores and 4 efficient cores, allowing you to run more demanding games and multitask. Its performance cores have 2.4 GHz Base and 4.9 GHz Turbo, making it more than enough for 1080p gaming, especially when paired with the RTX 4050.
  • 16GB RAM/ 512GB: This is where the laptop can keep its price a bit lower, as it opts for DDR4 RAM rather than the new DDR5, and a slightly smaller SSD than most high-end laptops. 16GB of DDR4 is fine for most games, as is having 512GB of internal storage, which you could always expand via an external SSD if you wish.
  • Connectivity: What’s great to see here is that this laptop has WIFI 6E, which is not always the norm with more entry level laptops. WIFI 6E is what most people have access to right now, with WIFI 7 rolling out, but by no means commonplace. It allows for faster internet speeds, which you’ll be able to take advantage of should you be in the right area for it.
  • Amazing screen: You’ve got a 144hz display here, which will allow you to game at up to 144 fps – ideal for more fast-paced titles like Call of Duty for instance.
  • Small footprint: Much smaller than some of the bulkier 18″ laptops, this machine is easily slung in a bag and taken on the go. The smaller screen size also makes the most out of the 1080p resolution too, as FHD looks brilliant on smaller screens in contrast to larger displays.

Who’s this deal for?

This is a great deal for anyone who wants to see first-hand what the hype is with gaming laptops, and ideally someone who’ll be using it on the go. Gaming laptops are great, but we’d always say that a desktop will be a more cost-effective, better performing option if you plan on using it in one place. To really get the most out of a gaming laptop, you’ll have a lifestyle that takes you on the go, and that’s where they come into a league of their own.

Having this laptop at its lowest price ever is just the icing on the cake here, but we won’t know for sure how long it’ll stay there, so if you’re interested you may have to act fast.
