This is one of the more premium mini-LED displays you can get, so this deal isn’t so much about grabbing something as big as possible for as little as possible, but rather scoring a very high-end TV from a top-level brand, while saving a solid chunk of change.
Coming in at $3,998.00, this TV is cut above your typical mini-LED TVs and notably features advanced backlight control for precise, accurate picture quality and dramatically reduced haloing. If you’re looking for something S-tier to take your setup to the next level, this TV is well worth considering while it’s still on sale.

What we like about this Sony Bravia 5 98 inch TV
Mini-LED picture quality, enhanced by XR Backlight Master Drive
Mini-LED picture quality varies a lot between different TVs, but the good news is that, thanks to Sony’s own XR Backlight Master Drive, you’ve got built-in technology that actively minimizes blooming with ultra-precise backlight control. That means you’re getting exceptional contrast, super deep blacks, and bright highlights, but still something that’s crisp and clear.
An excellent projector alternative
At 98 inches, this TV is massive, but it has the leg up on your typical projector when it comes to clarity, input lag, and the wide range of offerings brought forward by its advanced processor. Sure, it’s more expensive, but if you want the best quality picture possible on a large screen, a TV like this would be my personal way to go over most projectors.
High refresh rate and gaming features
You’ve got a 120Hz refresh rate here, which is high enough to allow for 120fps at 4K. In short, that’s enough headroom for high-end consoles like the PS5 Pro, and top-tier 4K-ready gaming PCs. It also has some exclusive features for PS5, such as Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode, which detect when you’re gaming and adjust settings to be more responsive.
Its advanced processor is a cut above the rest
Sony has some of the best processors you can get in a TV, and they bring a little extra to the table compared to your mid-range offerings. One very notable feature is its XR Triluminos Pro technology, which makes color look more super-realistic.
Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos make this a great choice for home theatre setups
With Dolby Atmos, you’re getting a TV that’s going to work with surround sound systems to create a 3D audio immersive experience, and with Dolby Vision, which is essentially super advanced HDR metadata, you’re going to be able to watch films how the director intended.
How good is this deal?
As you can see from the graph above, it’s back at its lowest price again on Amazon, so this is a great time to go for it. That being said, it hasn’t been at its ‘list price’ of $4999.99 since around late February, which makes the discount closer to $500 than $1000.
That’s still good, mind you, as this TV is a very premium offering that does bring a lot more to the table than your more affordable mini-LEDs, mostly due to the much higher-end processor and advanced backlight control, which do make a significant difference.
