If you’re looking for an affordable gaming laptop, capable of playing the latest AAA games at medium settings at 1600p resolution, this GIGABYTE AERO X16 laptop could be just the ticket. Not only do you get NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 graphics card and AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, but 32GB of DDR5 RAM (very expensive to come by these days, given the global shortage) plus 1TB of SSD storage. The solid amount of RAM also makes it a great productivity machine, which is also helped by its chassis: at roughly 4.2 pounds, the AERO X16 is lighter than many comparable 16-inch gaming notebooks. Its slim chassis makes it easier to carry between home, work, university, and client locations. The 76Wh battery is rated for up to approximately 14 hours under light-use conditions. Real-world endurance will vary considerably depending on display brightness, GPU use, and workload intensity, but the large battery should provide respectable mobility for a laptop with dedicated graphics. GIGABYTE AERO X16 – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070
The AERO X16 is powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor. This 12-core chip is designed to handle demanding mixed workloads, combining high-performance processing cores with efficient cores to balance speed and power consumption. With boost speeds of up to approximately 5.1GHz, the processor should provide excellent responsiveness in lightly threaded applications while retaining enough multicore strength for video encoding, software compilation, 3D rendering, and heavy multitasking.
Graphics duties are handled by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 8GB of GDDR7 memory. This is a capable upper-mid-range mobile GPU that should perform particularly well at the display’s native 2560×1600 resolution when settings are adjusted sensibly. For competitive games, the RTX 5070 should be able to take advantage of the 165Hz panel at high frame rates. More demanding AAA titles may require DLSS, Multi-Frame Generation, or reduced ray-tracing settings to maintain smooth performance at native resolution.

What we like about this GIGABYTE AERO X16 gaming laptop
Strong balance of portability and performance
The AERO X16 combines a 16-inch display, Ryzen AI 9 processor, and RTX 5070 Laptop GPU in a chassis weighing approximately 4.2 pounds. At around 16.75mm thick, it is considerably more portable than many high-performance gaming laptops while still offering enough power for demanding creative and gaming workloads.
Sharp 165Hz creator-focused display
Its 16-inch WQXGA panel uses a 2560×1600 resolution, a taller 16:10 aspect ratio, and a 165Hz refresh rate. Full sRGB coverage, a matte finish, and a quoted 400-nit brightness make it suitable for photo work, design, video editing, and general content creation as well as gaming.
Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor
AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 combines 12 CPU cores with a dedicated neural processing unit, giving the laptop a strong blend of productivity performance and on-device AI acceleration. It is particularly well suited to users who regularly multitask, edit media, run development tools, or use Copilot+ features.
RTX 5070 graphics and DLSS 4
The RTX 5070 Laptop GPU provides the dedicated graphics power needed for modern games, 3D applications, GPU-accelerated editing, and AI-assisted creative tools. Support for DLSS 4 and NVIDIA Studio broadens its appeal beyond gaming to professional and prosumer workflows.
Who should buy this RTX 5070 gaming laptop?
The GIGABYTE AERO X16 is designed for users who need a capable gaming and creator laptop without the bulk normally associated with desktop-replacement models. It is best suited to students, designers, video editors, photographers, developers, and gamers who value a sharp 16:10 display, strong CPU performance, and a relatively lightweight chassis.
