While all eyes might be on the Ryzen 9 9950X3D as the best processor, the previous generation of X3D processors is alive and kicking, and the flagship Ryzen 9 7950X3D has its price slashed by 5% in the Amazon deal.
The original price of this processor is $740, but after the discount, it is retailing for $699.95, and it is a solid option if you’re putting together a system with a sole focus on gaming. We’ve put this processor through its paces in our testing lab for our Ryzen 9 7950X3D review, and it showcased excellent synthetic and gaming performance.

Gaming performance
To test the gaming performance of this processor, we paired it with the RTX 4070 Ti Super and ran a couple of games at 1080p low to see how the CPU would keep up with the GPU, as the card would demand more instructions from the processor as processing 1080p frames is easy.
We ran CS2, Cyberpunk 2077, Days Gone, and Monster Hunter World and got 364, 173, 197, and 194 FPS, respectively. These are excellent figures and showcase that this processor can easily keep up with the GPU. So, you shouldn’t have any issues playing games at any resolution.
Synthetic performance
Synthetic testing for processors is done to evaluate their single and multi-core performance. Generally, single-core performance is an identifier of its gaming performance, while the multi-core score is used to gauge how well it’ll handle resource-intensive workflows where multiple cores need to be recruited.
We ran a couple of tests, but will highlight the output of Cinebench R23. In the single-core test, we got 1,685 points, and in the multi-core test, this CPU delivered 34,236 points. For comparison, the Ryzen 9 9950X, which is an “X” processor and has better productive output than X3D processors, managed 2,275 points in the same test. This puts the difference between these flagships to around 29% and 17%, which is a good amount, but doesn’t mean that the 7950X3D is a dud.
Should you get this processor?
While the performance of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D can’t be denied, we can’t honestly recommend this processor as it still has a very expensive price tag, and you can get the latest 9000 flagship, 9950X, for $548.99 on Amazon as it is currently on sale with 15% off.
