What we think about the Samsung S50GC’s performance
We think this is a great choice if you’re looking for a monitor for office work, the ultra-wide panel allows for tonnes of room for multiple windows while the 1440p definition gives you a crisp, clear picture. The bezel-less design also is great for working in a home office by maximizing any space that the monitor takes up. The S50GC’s excellent HDR10 color range allows for nearly 10 times the number of colors you’d get with a standard display – making it an excellent choice for design work. While the 100Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync mean it can be relied on for gaming, we wouldn’t recommend it as one of the best gaming monitors under $300 though mostly because of its 5ms response time. We think that performance-wise it’s definitely a great choice for most users, but is it the best value at its current price? Let’s take a look.

Is it a good idea to buy this Samsung 1440p monitor deal right now?
We’re always looking for top deals for our readers and so have come to find some look like great savings right now, but have been a better price previously or will drop further in the future. To do this we used the price comparison site Camelcamelcamel.com to examine the price history of the S50GC on Amazon – here it is.
As you can see from the graph, the S50GC recently had its discount decreased having previously been at its lowest price since Christmas. While still much cheaper than the original price of $379.99 it’s not quite as inexpensive as it once was which might give some buyers pause for thought. However, when looking at similarly specced models we still think this is a really solid deal as popular models like this Samsung SJ55 or Philips monitor are still more expensive than the S50GC.
