Hisense’s impressive 55-inch S7 CanvasTV is back down to its record-low price again on Amazon, with a significant 53% off its listed price, dropping it to $697.97. As is often the case, I’d say to take its discount with a pinch of salt, as its list price is a fair bit away from its average, which, according to price tracking data, comes in closer to $850. That being said, grabbing a TV like this for under $700 is a big win. Here’s why.

As you no doubt know, this TV is one of the increasing number of models that appear as if they’re a piece of framed art when idle. They’re designed for those who want something more inconspicuous that blends into their room’s decor, rather than a full-on home theatre type of setup. This TV packs an Art Mode, which can display anything from your own photos to a curated selection of artwork. Thanks to its Hi-Matte anti-glare display, it actually looks like a framed piece of art, too, rather than simply an image on a TV, as would be the case with a glossy coating.

In terms of performance as a TV in its own right, it’s quite impressive, too. It’s QLED, so you’re getting deeper, richer colors than your typical LED, and it supports Dolby Vision HDR, which is one of the best HDR formats for movies and streaming. It even has a 144Hz refresh rate and FreeSync Premium, which means that content should look super-smooth with minimal motion blur, and that you can pair it with a high-end console or PC for high refresh rate gaming, too.

Now TVs like these generally scale back in some areas, as they’re not really targeting enthusiast-level entertainment setups. For instance, you’re not getting mini-LED or OLED picture quality, or S-tier gaming features like FreeSync Premium Pro. That being said, if you want something with decent picture quality and motion handling that will look brilliant from an interior design perspective, this TV is a great way to go.

What we like about this Hisense S7 CanvasTV

Hi-Matte Display makes artwork appear ‘real’ and reduces distracting glare

This, along with its actual frame, really does make all the difference when it comes to completing the illusion, allowing it to blend seamlessly into any environment.

High refresh rate with FreeSync Premium is a win for gaming

These features put this TV onto another level and make it far more versatile for those gaming on PS5 and PC who want something for high-framerate gaming in 4K.

Extensive HDR support is brilliant for watching movies and streaming

Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR 10+, HDR10, and HDR10+ Adaptive are supported with this TV, meaning you can enjoy movies and shows with enhanced and more nuanced brightness, contrast, and color.
