If you were waiting for the perfect time to score a high-end gaming laptop for less, the time is now. The HP HyperX Omen 16 is a beast powered by the Ryzen 9 9955HX and RTX 5070. This pairing equips it with everything it needs to handle resource-intensive workflows such as 3D rendering, running simulations, 4K video editing, hardcore gaming, encoding, code compilation, software development, and more. It gets better with the inclusion of 32GB DDR5 RAM; however, the main attraction is, without a doubt, the 16″ OLED display.
This display has a QHD+ (2560 x 1600) resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate and a 0.2ms response time, making it perfect for gaming. However, the raw image quality of OLED will make everyday viewing a premium experience. You’ll also get the option to expand the RAM and SSD, WiFi 7, Omen Tempest cooling, a HyperAction 8000Hz keyboard, and Unleashed mode. So, this gaming laptop is truly decked out for $2,199; it’s a steal, as its original asking price was $3,899.99.

Why you should definitely check out the HP HyperX Omen 16
Ryzen 9 9955HX drives insane performance
The Ryzen 9 9955HX is one of the best processors and only second to the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D in the Ryzen 9000 mobile processor lineup, and that should tell you everything you need to know about this beast. It can handle extreme processing and multitasking thanks to its 16 cores and 32 threads that can run at a boost clock speed of 5.4GHz. The amazing aspect is that it can push all this weight while only consuming 75W at max, which is insane. So, if you were looking for a heavy-hitting machine with excellent portability that can handle anything you throw at it, this gaming laptop is a strong contender thanks to the 9955HX.

RTX 5070 is great for gaming, content creation, and AI
The mobile RTX 5070 in this gaming laptop comes with 8GB GDDR7 VRAM, which is more than enough to handle high-setting 1600p gaming. You’ll be able to run any title you want with ease, and even if you run into trouble, you can leverage DLSS in supported titles to increase the FPS, but keep in mind that this isn’t a solid alternative for true, native frames. It should also streamline content creation efforts thanks to Studio, and with the newer Tensor cores, the AI tasks and AI-accelerated apps will also be easy to deal with.
OLED display is the cherry on top
One of the best elements of this gaming laptop is the 16″ OLED display. The picture quality, contrast, depth, and details of OLED can’t be matched, and this means that playing games, watching movies, and editing content in the best quality possible will entirely transform the experience. On top of that, the 1,100 nits peak brightness is perfect for HDR content such as movies and TV shows.
The QHD+ resolution is a piece of cake for the RTX 5070 to handle, meaning that you can expect high FPS in different games. The 165Hz refresh rate and 0.2ms response time make it ideal for competitive gameplay, as it’ll ensure there is no ghosting, motion blur, or trailing slowing you down. With Reflex 2, you can lower the overall system latency as well.
Unleashed mode takes the output through the roof
The components in this machine should be able to handle anything even with normal settings, but if you really want to see what it is capable of or want the best performance possible, you can enable Unleashed Mode through the Omen Gaming Hub. This allows for a 170W TGP split between 55W for the CPU and 115W for the GPU. So, if a task is feeling tough, this mode will handle it quickly, and built-in safeguards will ensure that the hardware doesn’t get damaged.
