HP productivity laptop with OLED display 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage drops to lowest price in Prime Day deal – just $749.99!
Table of Contents
This HP OmniBook 5 laptop combines a large OLED display with an efficient Snapdragon X processor, 16GB of memory and exceptionally long battery life. It is designed primarily for office work, studying, communication and entertainment rather than intensive gaming or workstation-class production, and for these jobs it works very well. The OLED screen also makes viewing movies or streaming services a great experience – particularly when watching those darker scenes where the high-contrast ratio can really shine. Grab it now for just $749.99 – that’s over $200 off the MSRP!

What we like about the HP OmniBook 5 16-fb0299nr Next Gen AI PC
Vibrant 16-inch OLED display
The 16-inch panel uses OLED technology, allowing individual pixels to switch off completely when reproducing black. This gives it much deeper contrast than a conventional LCD and makes films, photographs and dark interface elements appear particularly rich.

Its native resolution is 1920 x 1200 with a 16:10 aspect ratio. HP markets this as a 2K display, although it does not have the pixel density associated with 2560 x 1600 laptop panels. The resolution remains appropriate for a 16-inch productivity system and is less demanding on the processor and battery. The screen covers a claimed 95% of the DCI-P3 colour space and offers a very fast 0.2ms response time. Those characteristics make it appealing for media consumption and light creative work, although professional colour-sensitive workflows should still use calibration.
Brightness is rated at 300 nits, which is adequate for ordinary indoor use but relatively modest for a glossy OLED screen. Reflections may become distracting near windows or under strong lighting, and it is not positioned as a high-brightness HDR display.
Exceptional claimed battery endurance
HP rates this configuration for up to 34 hours and 45 minutes of local video playback. The figure was obtained under controlled conditions with the display set to 200 nits, wireless enabled but disconnected and locally stored Full HD video playing continuously. That makes the claim useful as a best-case comparison rather than a prediction of mixed real-world use. Browsing, video calls, cloud applications, high screen brightness and emulated software will consume more power, so practical runtime will be lower.
Even with that qualification, the Snapdragon processor, 59Wh battery and moderate-resolution OLED panel should provide excellent endurance for a 16-inch Windows laptop. HP Fast Charge can restore approximately 50% of the battery in around 30 minutes when the computer is switched off and used with the supplied 65W adapter.
Efficient eight-core Snapdragon X processor
The Snapdragon X X1-26-100 is a streamlined member of Qualcomm’s Windows PC range. Its eight Oryon cores are designed to deliver responsive productivity while consuming substantially less energy than a conventional high-wattage laptop CPU. It should comfortably handle document editing, web research, email, streaming, video conferencing and everyday multitasking. It is less appropriate for heavy rendering, prolonged video exports, large code compilations or specialised engineering workloads that benefit from considerably faster processors.
The absence of a separate boost mode helps maintain predictable efficiency, while the integrated design reduces the cooling and power demands normally associated with high-performance x86 hardware.
Fast LPDDR5X memory
The 16GB of onboard LPDDR5X runs at 8,448MT/s, providing high memory bandwidth for the CPU, integrated graphics and NPU. This capacity is appropriate for the laptop’s intended productivity workload and should support multiple office and communication applications comfortably.
Because the memory is soldered to the motherboard, it cannot be upgraded. Users working with unusually large datasets, complex creative projects or many virtualised environments may find 16GB restrictive over the machine’s lifetime.
Practical PCIe 4.0 storage
The 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD provides fast startup and application-loading performance. It is sufficient for documents, cloud-synchronised work, media and a normal collection of applications, although available space will be lower after Windows, recovery data and formatting overhead.
Users maintaining large local photo, video or game libraries may require external storage or a higher-capacity configuration. The product listing does not guarantee the exact SSD manufacturer or its maximum benchmark performance.
Lightweight aluminium construction
Despite its 16-inch display, the OmniBook weighs approximately 3.52 pounds and measures around 0.52 inches thick. These dimensions make it notably portable for a large-screen notebook and easier to carry than most 16-inch performance laptops.
The Glacier Silver aluminium finish gives it a clean, restrained appearance suitable for school, home and professional environments. Its larger panel also provides more workspace than a 13- or 14-inch ultraportable without creating the weight associated with a gaming system.
Useful USB-C connectivity
The laptop includes two 10Gbps USB-C ports supporting USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort 1.4a and HP Sleep and Charge. A further 10Gbps USB-A connection accommodates conventional storage and peripherals, while a 3.5mm combination jack supports wired audio. Both charging and external-display output are handled through USB-C. The absence of built-in HDMI means connecting a conventional monitor or television may require a USB-C adapter or dock.
Strong video-call hardware
The Full HD infrared camera supports Windows Hello facial authentication, allowing secure login without entering a password. A physical privacy shutter can block the camera when it is not required.
Temporal noise reduction helps improve webcam quality in difficult lighting, while the integrated dual-array microphones support calls and recordings. Dual speakers with HP Audio Boost provide everyday audio, although headphones or external speakers will offer greater range for music and films.
Silent and efficient everyday operation
The Snapdragon platform’s low power consumption allows the system to remain cooler and quieter than many performance-oriented laptops during ordinary tasks. Instant-wake behaviour also makes the device feel closer to a tablet or smartphone when resuming from standby.
The integrated Adreno GPU can handle interface acceleration, video playback and light creative applications. It is not intended to compete with a dedicated NVIDIA or AMD graphics processor in modern games, 3D rendering or GPU-intensive professional work.
Who should buy this OLED laptop deal?
The HP OmniBook 5 16-fb0299nr is best suited to students, remote workers and home users who prioritise battery endurance, a large OLED screen and a thin, lightweight design. It is particularly attractive for document work, research, communication, web applications, streaming and travel. It can also serve users who want Copilot+ features and efficient local AI processing without the heat or weight of a dedicated-GPU laptop. Its 1080p infrared camera, Wi-Fi 6E and long battery potential make it well equipped for hybrid working.
It is not the right choice for demanding PC gaming, CAD, heavy 3D work or anyone dependent on guaranteed x86 driver compatibility. The fixed 16GB memory and modest 512GB storage should also be considered before purchase, as this configuration offers less long-term expansion than a conventional business or gaming notebook.
