What we liked about the ASUS ROG Strix G18
Ryzen 9 8940HX and RTX 5070 deliver kick-ass performance
This is a high-end processor with a mid-range graphics card that makes for an excellent pairing. The 16 cores and 32 threads of this laptop enable it to handle demanding workflows with ease, and the task can be divided and conquered. It has a base 55W TDP but can ramp up to 75W, which means that if the cores want more power depending on the task, it can unlock the floodgates. The 64MB L3 cache also allows it to hold more data on-chip, and while it might not give it the performance of an X3D processor, it will still give you amazing gaming output in AAA titles.

The modern architecture also gives it excellent computing power, helping it streamline AI, creative, and gaming workloads. NVIDIA Studio will allow you to speed up creative processes, while DLSS and MFG will ensure that no matter the graphics settings, you won’t have to sacrifice FPS.
Huge 18″ display
One aspect that is bound to catch your attention is the massive 18″ display. It has an 89% screen-to-body ratio with a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, and a QHD resolution. These specifications are ideal for pretty much any workflow, whether it is gaming, content creation, streaming, or working. The 16:10 aspect ratio makes it feel even more spacious, while the gaming specs will allow for smooth and responsive competitive gaming. The color gamut coverage is great for video editing, as it was originally made for digital cinema, but with proper calibration, it can be used for color grading and photo editing as well.
Strong cooling performance
A powerful gaming laptop also needs an equivalent cooling system, and that is where the ROG Intelligent Cooling comes into play. With three fans constantly pulling in cold air and pushing the hot air out, combined with a full-width heatsink and full-surround vents, you can easily have extended working and gaming sessions without worrying about overheating. This will allow you to push sustained heavy workloads with this gaming laptop.
