Spring Sales may be over, but there are still plenty of solid laptop deals floating around that could be worth your time, including this excellent offering from ASUS.
The ASUS ROG line is all about top-tier performance, awesome displays, and versatility. These are laptops that can be seriously expensive depending on the GPU you go for, so older models with 40-series mobile graphics cards are appealing from a price to performance standpoint. You’re still getting quality, high-end components and features, but you can do so for a fair whack less than if you were to go for a recently released laptop.

In this case, we’ve spotted an RTX 4060 version that comes with a massive 64GB of DDR5 RAM, a 240hz refresh rate screen, and a punchy heavy-weight Intel Core i9-14900HX for over $280 off. That brings its price down from $2449 to $2161.08 – not bad considering what you’re getting…
ASUS ROG Strix G18 Gaming Laptop – 18″ 2.5K 240Hz Display
What we like about this laptop
- RTX 4060: While not as powerful as the desktop equivalent, the mobile 4060 is a good option for 1080p gaming at high settings, and does well with slightly less demanding games in 1440p, which can when available be boosted with DLSS. It’s a decent card for a laptop, but the general consensus is that it’s better used with 1080p gaming than 1440p, with the RTX 4070 mobile being preferable for the latter, if you’re trying to keep costs down.
- Intel Core i9-14900HX: A common CPU found in many mid-range laptops, this 14th Intel processor is a bit of a heavy-weight, packing 24 cores and 32 threads, with an L3 cache of 36M and boost clock speeds of up to 5.8GHz. In short, it’ll do very well for gaming, and offers excellent support with multi-tasking and other intensive tasks.
- Epic screen: The standout here is the stunning 18″ IPS display. First off, it has 500 nits of brightness, which is ore than more gaming monitors, and a 2560 x 1600 resolution, otherwise known as WQXGA. This means that you’re getting a 16:10 aspect ratio, so more screen real-estate and more pixel density. That’s great for gaming, but it’s also excellent for multi-tasking.
- Fast refresh rate: 240hz refresh rates aren’t super common in gaming laptops, with many opting for 165hz or less, so this is a win if you’re into high fps gaming.
- Loads of RAM and storage: Arguably where the price gets driven up a bit here, you’ve got a 4TB SSD and massive 64GB of DDR5 RAM. You won’t run out of room anytime soon, and having that much RAM will ensure your system feels super responsive.
- Advanced cooling: Innovate cooling solutions are often found in ASUS ROG laptops, and such is the case here. ROG intelligent cooling uses a number of different, clever solutions together to drastically reduce heat and keep everything operating at its best. Its Liquid Metal Conductonaut Extreme actually offers 17x higher conductivity than traditional thermal pastes, which ASUS claim can reduce CPU and GPU temperatures by 15 degrees more in comparison.
- Stunning design: As usual, ASUS has knocked it out the park when it comes to the design of this laptop. Tasteful lighting, clean lines, and not super bulky – this is a laptop that’ll look great sitting on a desk at home, office, or on the go.
Who’s this deal for?
This deal is great for those who don’t need the extra firepower of a more expensive mobile GPU, and want something that can be used for both work and play on the go. It’s also for those who are big fans on ASUS ROG, specifically the quality and the craftsmanship that goes into its products, which is fully on display with this laptop. In terms of pricing, yeah, it’s expensive still, but it offers a lot more than more budget variations that also have an RTX 4060. Here, it’s really the impressively high-refresh rate screen, massive internal SSD and 64GB of the latest RAM that set it apart from the rest.
A deal well worth considering if you’re on the hunt for a new machine. We’ll be back with you soon to share more deals that are heading in our way, so stay tuned.
