Right now, LG has knocked a whopping 40% off one of its best ultrawide monitors, meaning this OLED, 240hz, 34″ curved display has crashed from $1299.99 to just $777.77 on Amazon. Here, I’ll walk you through some of the key features and specs of this monitor, plus share my two cents as to whether now is the best time to buy, or if it’s worth sticking around until the Spring Sales.

What you need to know about this monitor
- 34″ OLED display with 21:9 aspect ratio – OLED displays have self illuminating pixels, so you’re essentially getting the best contrast as the pixels can ‘switch off’. This makes the picture look ultra realistic, so if you’re pairing this monitor with a powerful PC, you’re in for a treat.
- 800R curved screen – basically, the smaller the number, the more aggressive the curve, and that ultimately means that it’s better for immersion as it ‘wraps around’ your field of vision. This is ideal if you’ve got a 34″ monitor, as it really makes the most out of the dimensions.
- 240hz refresh rate with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility – to be honest, this is pretty much standard with monitors at this level. It’s great, don’t get me wrong, and means that this monitor will be able to handle up to 240fps gaming, and shouldn’t suffer from screen-tearing.
- 0.03ms response time – another quite standard spec for these types of monitors. It just means that the pixels will change color very quickly, which is essential for a smoother on screen motion during gameplay.
- Anti-glare – now the norm with most OLED monitors, but not all, this is great for gaming in bright rooms or in the daytime.
- Small base stand – essential for keeping desk space free and tidy.
There’s a lot to love about this monitor, and LG Ultragear products are really some of the best on the market. This is the type of monitor that I think is great for most people’s gaming setups, especially if they’re more tailored to 1440p and FHD gaming.
For the price, personally, I think it’s on the money, considering what you’re getting and the size of the display itself. The list price is pretty hefty if you ask me, and I’d expect something much bigger for that price – probably around 49-inches.
That being said I think this is solid monitor that will absolutely deliver on immersion, without completely dominating your room too. The one caution I’d share would be that while this could be good for consuming other media, streaming, and everyday use, it won’t be great if you’re a designer. For design, you really need a flat surface so you can accurate track proportions, so I’d lean towards a flat screen if that sounds like you.
