What we like about this LG UltraGear evo curved gaming monitor
Huge 39-inch curved display
For starters, this ultrawide monitor features a huge 39-inch curved display that wraps around your field of view to provide an immersive experience. While it isn’t as massive as a 49-inch display like the Samsung Odyssey G9, it still offers plenty of screen space without taking up too much space on your desk.

Stunning visual quality
The OLED panel features a 5120 x 2160 resolution, which should deliver sharp, clear, and stunning visuals. The pixel density reaches 144 PPI, so text, HUD elements, fine textures, and smaller interface elements should look crisp. The display also has a 21:9 aspect ratio, which should give supported games a wider field of view compared to standard 16:9 displays.
High refresh rate with Dual Mode support
The monitor also has a super-fast refresh rate of 165Hz at its native resolution. However, with Dual Mode, you can get a faster 330Hz refresh rate at a lower resolution. This can be useful for competitive gamers who prefer a higher refresh rate instead of visuals. It also has a 0.03ms response time, thanks to which you won’t have to worry about issues like ghosting or screen tearing.
Best of both worlds
While the 39GX950B-B is marketed mainly as a gaming monitor, it can also prove to be beneficial outside of games. For instance, the 39-inch screen can help you keep multiple applications open at the same time without the screen feeling cluttered. For instance, you can keep a document open on one side and a YouTube video on another. In short, if you’re making a jump from a small monitor, you’ll definitely notice an increase in productivity.
Who is this LG UltraGear curved gaming monitor for?
The LG UltraGear evo 39GX950B-B appears to be a solid pick for someone who is looking for a display for both regular and competitive gaming. Its Dual Mode function can help you transform the monitor into something completely different, while the 39-inch screen size means you can use it for more than just gaming. However, do keep in mind that it’s better suited for someone who owns a high-end gaming rig.
