Table of Contents
The Lenovo Legion Go S is a handheld gaming console that offers better specifications than the Steam Deck, a larger display with a faster refresh rate, a more powerful processor, and, for some, better ergonomics and the familiarity of Windows. The display has a 1200p resolution with 100% sRGB coverage and 10-point touch support. This drives a rich and vibrant gaming experience, while the 16GB LPDDR5X unified memory ensures a hurdle-free output. Buy it for only $667.14.
The main concern with handheld gaming consoles is battery life, and you’ll find a 55.5Wh battery powering this entire package, which is also paired with a Rapid charger that brings it up to 100% in 90 minutes. So, depending on the settings, mode, and brightness, you can easily get 1 to 1.5 hours of serious gameplay or 3-5 hours of casual gaming. There is a lot to unpack with this gaming console, but with what we’ve seen, it is certainly worth checking out, especially if you want an offering with a larger screen and more processing power.
What made the Lenovo Legion Go S stand out
Powerful processor and graphics card
At the heart of this gaming console, you’ll find the AMD Ryzen Z2 Go paired with Radeon graphics. This is a quad-core CPU with a 30W TDP, giving it plenty of punching power over the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. This combo has more than enough power to handle everything from AAA titles to indie games. It strikes a very good balance between gaming performance and efficiency, which also reduces system latency and the strain on the battery.

A benefit of integrated RDNA graphics is that they support modern technologies like FSR, which takes the edge off the hardware and upscales the output at a higher resolution using intelligent algorithms. This ensures that even if you ramp up the graphics, you can enjoy a stable and consistent gaming experience
Stunning 8″ PureSight display
The main and biggest attraction of this handheld is its 8″ PureSight display that combines the picture quality and sharpness of its 1920 x 1200 resolution and the fluidity of its 120Hz refresh rate. This means that you can push the limits of the hardware to get as much FPS as you can, and this will feel a lot smoother than a 30Hz or 60Hz display. It also results in smoother animations, responsive controls, and less motion blur in fast-paced scenes.
Robust battery with fast charging
You can’t have a handheld console with a small battery, and this offering is equipped with a 55.5Whr battery. This is pretty decent and should last you a couple of hours, but if you have Turbo/Performance mode activated and are playing a graphically demanding game like Cyberpunk 2077 with high brightness, this time frame will obviously be dramatically reduced. However, with its Rapid charger, you can get back in the game as it brings it up to 100% in 90 minutes.
Windows familiarity
Windows 11 is the choice of operating system for this handheld, and that gives you plenty of freedom. You can install games from all the major storefronts such as Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and more. So, if you have a library spread across different platforms, you can access it all, and there is nothing stopping you from doing so. Besides that, you can connect an external monitor via the USB-C port and use it as a mini PC for casual browsing, watching videos, movies, etc.
Legion Ultimate support and free PC Game Pass included
With this offer, you’ll get 1 year of Legion Ultimate support and free PC Game Pass. The former is a premium service that will give you the ability to contact experts who understand the device inside and out for any possible issues. This means that problems should be resolved quickly and efficiently, while Game Pass opens the gates for hundreds of titles from every genre, allowing you to experience titles that were locked behind a paywall.
