Mid-range Ryzen 7 7700X is now down to its lowest price of the year – great for new AM5 builds
Table of Contents
The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X is a great CPU if you’re trying to build a budget-friendly PC. Featuring AMD’s AM5 socket, this is an excellent choice if you want something to kick start a build, until you’re ready and willing to upgrade to something more punchy, such as AMD’s 9000 series offerings.
The good news is that you can make this purchase even more cost-effective, thanks to an early Spring Sales deal we’ve discovered. Right now you can snag this mid-range CPU for 32% off, bringing its price down from $399.00 to $270.71. That’s almost $130 saved with this deal – which means you can invest those savings elsewhere with your build.
We’ve reviewed the Ryzen 7 7700X and were impressed, giving it 4 stars, noting that it ‘offers a lot in terms of power and performance’. Let’s take a closer look at some of the key highlights of this CPU, so you have everything you need to know before you buy.
AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor
What we like about the Ryzen 7 7700X
- Solid performance: Despite being a last-gen 7000 series processor, its performance is well suited to a more mid-range build. You’ve got an 8-core, 16 thread setup, with a base clock speed of 4.5 GH and a boost clock speed of 5.4 GHz here. For the price, we even wrote in our review that anything ‘sub $280’ would be the right amount to spend for this type of performance – so this deal is bang on the money.
- OC support: This CPU can be overclocked to take the performance even higher, but we’d recommend pairing with a decent cooler if you’re going to go for it. For the general uses of a more mid-range rig, you may not want to go down this route, but it’s a good option to have should you want to.
- Cache: You’ve got 32MB of L3 cache with this CPU, which is decent, but obviously pales in comparison to the likes of the former king of gaming CPUs – the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Again, for most gaming, and for the new deals price, it’s a solid offering.
- Great for a new build: Since this CPU is for the AM5 socket, you’ll have to overhaul a few things in your setup – namely the motherboard and RAM, making this a great option if you’re looking to do a refresh of your system. There are loads of good deals on DDR5 RAM and AM5 compatible motherboards that are well worth checking out – many of them are combo deals too, making it relatively straight-forward (and cheaper) to get everything you need in one swoop.
- Great efficiency: This CPU has a 105W TDP, continuing AMD’s track-record of producing efficient processors. Overclocking it will obviously have an impact on this, but out of the box you’re getting something that’ll work effeciently.
Who’s this deal for?
As mentioned in our review, we thought the MSRP of this CPU was a little awkward given what it brings to the table. In our review we noted that if it were under $280, its performance would align well with the price-point – so this deal is really for anyone who’s had their eye on the Ryzen 7 7700X, but couldn’t quite justify the spend.
It’s also a good time to buy as even with the Amazon Spring Sales just around the corner, it’s at its lowest price this year. It could go a little lower, but by the looks of it (via camelcamelcamel), that may only happen around Black Friday…
