Table of Contents
The RIG 800 Pro HX Wireless Gaming Headset is an officially licensed Xbox headset. It looks impressive, and its popularity marks it as a mid-range model worth knowing about. Good news then: if you’re an Xbox owner needing a new gaming headset right now, the 800 Pro HX is at one of its best-ever prices on Amazon. Down from a list price of $165, the headset is just $99, a big $65 saving. For a headset with a multi-function base station and easy-access controls, we think that’s a strong price.

Why we like the RIG 800 Pro HX
Impressive audio
The RIG 800 Pro HX is lauded for its impressive audio. This headset has 40mm, high-sensitivity speaker drivers, reinforced bass, and reduced distortion for clear, enjoyable sound supporting Dolby Atmos 3D audio. That combination seems to work, given the praise the audio gets from third-party reviewers and owners. For voice comms, you get a flexible noise-cancelling mic with a flip-up mute function.
Multi-function base station
The wireless range of the 800 Pro HX is up to 30 feet. However, when the headset isn’t in use, you can secure it on the multi-function base station to charge out of sight. The base station conveniently doubles as a charging dock and a wireless 2.4GHz base station, but you also get a dongle you can plug into your console to keep the base station out of the way.

Easily-adjustable size and control
RIG’s Signature Snap-Fit size adjustments offer small, medium, and large settings for a closer fit, while the self-adjusting headstrap fine-tunes for closer comfort. And for easy access to game/chat audio balance and mic monitoring volume, the on-ear controls put everything in one place.
What to consider before you buy
Designed for Xbox, the RIG 800 Pro HX is a good pick if you solely need a headset for that console. However, if you’re a gamer with multiple gaming devices, it’s worth looking at other options to get the most out of your investment. It’s not that the RIG 800 Pro HX is bad at all – in fact, it’s particularly good at this price – but it’s a one-console model designed to work well in that role.
