Lossless Scaling is an independent piece of software that enables you to upscale PC games on any GPU, regardless of its capabilities. Developed by THS on Steam, it is available for a very small price, way less than the cost of a new GPU. If you’re stuck in a place that requires you to upgrade your hardware but don’t have the budget right now, this could be a fantastic solution.

A video released recently by a YouTuber named Vyathaen, which is showcasing the new 4X FPS mode that, according to WccfTech, will be added to the frame-generation software in the coming weeks.

The article on WccfTech notes that this video isn’t the best resource to see the 4X framerates that Lossless Scaling is capable of, but if you are in the Lossless Scaling Discord, you can find a Cyberpunk 2077 video that better showcases the improvements to performance that this software brings. It’s looking promising for the new scaling mode, as Beta testers in the Discord are reporting promising results.

This update isn’t long following the June 6th update that brought the 3X mode to the software. If you’re interested and need this software to breathe new life into your PC gaming experience, then Lossles Scailing is available on Steam for very little money. This software could be what you need, and it could save you hundreds, maybe thousands on shelling out for new hardware.

According to the Lossless scaling Steam page, the scaling options include:

  • LS1
  • AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution
  • NVIDIA Image Scaling
  • Integer Scaling
  • Nearest Neighbor
  • xBR
  • Anime4K
  • Sharp Bilinear
  • Bicubic CAS

The software can be used on ANY GPU for ANY game, which eliminates the issue of having where some games are compatible with GPU scaling software like FSR and DLSS, and others aren’t. Lossless Scaling even works on emulated games. One thing you do have to bear in mind, apart from the fact that you need to run your games in Windowed mode, is you need a semi-decent performance value in a certain game, to begin with for this software to be effective.

If you have 3 FPS in a game, the most you’re going to get out of this software is an extra 9 FPS, which isn’t much. But it could do well to push you over the 60 FPS threshold if you’re struggling in the sub-30 30FPS realm. If you’ve ever seen 30 and 60 FPS side-by-side, it’s a game changer.
