Odd Ryzen 7 5800XT hits yet another low price in new Amazon deal

Building a new socket AM4 system may not be the route in 2025. Yet upgrade options and value on the platform were boosted last year, and the unexpected 5800XT was part of it. We highlighted what (small changes) to expect when comparing the 5800XT vs 5800X. But the newer CPU’s constant price drops are far from predictable.
Previously pushed to a low of $149 in early February, the Ryzen 7 5800 XT has outdone itself by falling in price again. Right now the CPU is $140, a further $10 off, and a total of $110 below the list price. So if you spotted the last deal and remained unsure, there’s now an even bigger saving.

What we like about the AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT
While you could build a new system with last-gen parts, if you’re on an even older system, we like the 5800XT for its upgrade potential – particularly if you’re on a lower-performance AM4 CPU:
- Architecture – Using AMD’s last-gen AM4 platform, the 5800XT is an 8-core, 16-thread CPU that is a solid, affordable choice for gaming, productivity, and daily computer needs. You’ll notice the difference if you’re upgrading from a less capable AM4 option. This CPU supports PCIe 4.0.
- Max boost – This CPU has the same 3.8GHz base clock as the 5800X, but it does offer an additional Max boost increment, with 4.8GHz vs 4.7GHz.
- Overclockable – If you want to get even more performance out of the 5800XT and are happy to do so, the CPU is overclockable. This will mean more power and more heat, so keep in mind that the included cooler may not keep temperatures at a reasonable level.
- Included cooler – This Ryzen 7 5800XT deal includes a Wraith Prism CPU cooler
Who is this AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT deal for?
Should you have a socket AM4 motherboard and have yet to upgrade to a higher-powered Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9, this may be for you. At $140 you can get a solid and well-performing CPU which, while it cannot match modern CPUs, can perform admirably in most regards.
If you want to do more gaming, the 5700X3D and 5800X3D would be better, but both are over $200. While the slightly less powerful 5800X is still a few dollars more. Ultimately, the second low price inside a month means the 5800XT is excellent value and worth picking up if you can use the upgrade.
