Amazon’s impending Prime Big Deal Days are on October 6 and 7. However, a day before the sale event kicks off, we’ve seen a cracking deal on arguably the best noise-cancelling headphones available: the Sony WH-1000XM6. The ‘XM6’ is the latest in an established (and stunningly good) line of Sony headphones, and the deal price is $378, an $81.99 saving on the $460 list price. That’s the best so far for the headphones on Amazon, and here’s why we’d pick them.

Why we’d pick the Sony WH-1000XM6
Truly premium design and comfort
The Sony WH-1000XM6 is a premium set of wireless headphones, evolved from previous models. The XM6 features a wider, asymmetrical headband covered in synthetic leather to reduce pressure and improve comfort. A stepless slider and seamless swivel both allow adjustments, while the foldable design fits into a compact case with magnetic closure.
Excellent audio and ANC
The XM6 is popular for two key reasons beyond the stylish design and comfort. Firstly, the audio you experience is exceptional, and Amazon reviews point out that they are “everything they claim to be”. And as Sony claims, “unparalleled sound clarity and precision”, developed in collaboration with “world-renowned mastering audio engineers”, you can expect sublime audio. Secondly, whether listening to music or taking calls, the active noise-cancelling is excellent.

Impressive battery life
The battery life for the Sony WH-1000XM6 hasn’t changed from the Sony WH-1000XM5. However, you still get up to 30 hours of battery. That’s literally better than ‘all-day’, and the audio processor in the XM6 has been upgraded, too. That means you get the same battery life as the prior-gen with more advanced audio processing.
What to consider before you buy
The Sony WH-1000XM6 is at its best price on Amazon, making this deal an excellent one to take advantage of. Even better, the price is the same for each colorway of the headphones, so you can pick your preferred style. However, if the price is still too high, the elephant in the room is the slightly less cutting-edge, but still excellent WH-1000XM5. They’re currently available for around $200, as the (lower-cost) direct alternatives.
