Powerful i9-14900K CPU discounted over $100 in surprising Amazon deal
Table of Contents
Intel’s latest generation of CPUs released last year promised to be the most powerful consumer-grade processors they’d produced. While not a huge leap forward in terms of performance, instead ‘refreshing’ the already existing Raptor Lake architecture of the previous generation, the i9-14900K is still the most powerful Intel Core CPU available right now. So it’s an exciting surprise that it’s currently discounted on Amazon less than half a year on from its release. With an ultra-powerful max clock speed of 6.0 GHz and a large 36MB memory cache, we think it’s probably the top gaming CPU on the market right now. Check out the details below to see if this exciting Intel i9-14900K Amazon deal is what you’re looking for.

How we rate the i9-14900K’s performance
In our review of the i9-14900K we liked its performance a lot, as its massive performance makes it a great option for those looking to do intensive work like video editing, 3D rendering, AI, or 4K gaming. The 6.0 GHZ boost clock will chew through any task you put in front of it meaning no chance of bottlenecking. The huge core count also means that it’s a great option if you need to work on several projects at once, easily able to balance each application’s workload. However, we did note that in our stress test we saw a lot of throttling when the 14900K reached capacity. This is an issue that has persisted with Intel CPUs and it’s disappointing that you’ll still find it with this one. You will need an extremely beefy cooling system to ensure that this thing is running optimally. It’s also only a very slight jump in performance when compared to previous 13900K and 13900KS CPUs meaning it’s probably not worth it if you’ve already got a top CPU from the previous gens. Though, if you are looking to buy the 14900K, is it a good time to buy? Let’s take a look.
Is this Intel i9-14900K Amazon deal a good price?
We took a look at the price history of the Intel i9-14900K to see whether right now was a good time to buy and, good news, it is! We used the website camelcamelcamel.com to have a look at how the 14900K has been priced since it released – check it out below.

As you can see from the graph, the 14900K is currently on sale for a low price at $539.99 although it’s not at its lowest, which it reached in March at $532.99. This is still a very competitive price right now although we would say that it’s unlikely to shoot back up by much as it seems to be trending downwards and relatively steadily. We think that this is a good price when compared to competitors such as the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D which is currently $40.00 more expensive with comparative performance vs 14900K.
