Challenger brand Thunderobot is taking on the big boys of the gaming laptop world with their range of powerful machines that undercut the competition in terms of price by quite some margin, whilst still remaining good quality products. This particular Thunderobot Radiant 16 is a hugely powerful 16-inch gaming laptop built around the flagship Nvidia RTX 5080 GPU, a slightly older generation (but still very powerful) Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU, lots of memory and storage, and a very fast, high-resolution display. For just $2,299.99 there really isn’t much to complain about here – this is great value.
In practice, this configuration should be very strong in modern games at the native resolution, particularly with tuned settings and modern rendering features enabled. The fast display gives you room to enjoy high frame rates, while the 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD make the machine much more usable for real-world multitasking and long-term ownership. What we like about this Thunderobot Radiant 16 laptop
RTX 5080 gives it true upper-tier gaming laptop performance
An RTX 5080 in a 16-inch laptop immediately places this system in premium territory. It is the kind of GPU that makes high-refresh 1600p gaming feel realistic and gives the machine meaningful creator headroom for GPU-accelerated applications as well.

Core i9-14900HX still brings huge processing power
Even with newer Intel chips on the market, the i9-14900HX remains a very powerful mobile processor. Its 24-core, 32-thread layout gives the laptop plenty of room for gaming, streaming, editing, and other demanding tasks that benefit from strong multi-core performance.
32GB DDR5 and 2TB SSD
A laptop at this level should not feel cramped, and this one does not. 32GB RAM is appropriate for a premium gaming and creation system, while the 2TB SSD gives the machine much better long-term usability than many high-end laptops that still start at 1TB.
16-inch 2.5K 300Hz display aims for both clarity and speed
A 2560 x 1600 display at up to 300Hz is a very strong pairing for this class of hardware. It gives the laptop a panel that can feel sharp for everyday use and cinematic gaming, while still having enough refresh headroom for fast shooters and other competitive titles.
Aggressive cooling design is clearly performance-focused
Thunderobot is leaning heavily into the thermal story here, with dense copper fin stacks, dual turbofans, and multiple exhaust paths. That matters because a system with an i9 and RTX 5080 will only perform well long term if it can sustain clocks under load.
Who’s this RTX 5080 laptop for?
This laptop is best for users who want serious gaming performance in a 16-inch form factor without compromising on memory or storage. It also makes sense for buyers who want a machine that can cover both high-end gaming and heavier productivity or creative tasks.
