The Amazon Spring Sales are in full swing and it looks like there are more than a few gaming laptop deals running right now. We’ve spotted one in particular that stood out from the crowd that’s a good option for anyone looking for more a mid-range laptop that doesn’t look like a gaming laptop.

This Lenovo Legion 5i is currently down 13%, knocking off $200 from its list price and falling to just $1399.99. It also happens to be, according to camelcamelcamel, down to its lowest ever price thanks to the sales – making it a great time to buy.

This laptop houses an impressive RTX 4070 mobile GPU, punchy Intel Core i9-14900HX, and 32GB of RAM, on top of an impressive 16″ display. We think for the new price, it’s great value for money considering what you’re getting.

What we like about this gaming laptop

  • Excellent GPU: RTX 4070 mobile graphics cards perform very well at 1080p, and also at 1440p – especially if you use DLSS 3 and frame generation to squeeze out some extra fps. These cards are similar to an RTX 3080 mobile, and are often found in more mid-range gaming laptops, including laptops that are designed to be slimmer. It’s a good card for most people who play a variety of different types of games and offers a lot of versatility.
  • Solid CPU: This particular CPU has 24 cores and 32 threads, with a max turbo frequency of up to 5.8 GHz. It’s a good choice for higher fps, and does well with other tasks like rendering and video editing.
  • Versatile display: This laptop has a 16-inch WQXGA display, which means its 16:10 aspect ratio and has higher pixel density. You’re getting a bit more screen real-estate here, which is good for productivity and immersion when gaming, and the higher pixel density also improves picture quality too.
  • Bright, with great color coverage: This screen has 350 nits of brightness, which is akin to a low-mid range gaming monitor. At this level of brightness, you’ll have no problem using it in well-lit environments. It also has 100% sRGB color coverage, which is a real win if you’re using it as a creative professional. If you’re a video editor, photographer, or content creator – this is excellent to have for the price.
  • Slimline, lightweight design: Perhaps the best thing about this gaming laptop is that it’s far from bulky, and surprisingly streamlined. Great for portability, but it also offers a more stealthy alternative to some of the more bombastic designs on the market.
  • Loads of ports: Lenovo has gone hard with all the connectivity options here, featuring USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, Ethernet, and more.

Who’s this deal for?

As mentioned, this laptop is for those who want to be able to game on the go (in 1080p and 1440p), but would prefer to have a device that blends in well in a more professional environment – similar to the MSI Stealth series. For the price, it offers a lot, but as I always say, make sure you’re someone who will be taking this out and about and not just sitting in your home office, as there are plenty of RT 40-series gaming desktops you can get for this price that will outperform even some of the best gaming laptops on the market.

In terms of whether it’s the best time to buy, I’d say absolutely. This is the lowest price its been in sometime, the last time being way back in July 2024.
