MSI makes some of the best gaming laptops on the market, so it’s an excellent place to start your search if you’re looking to see what the hype is about. This particular laptop is packed with some decent components for the price, plus a few features that you don’t typically find on lower-end models, such as a backlit keyboard and pretty slim design too.
Let’s take a closer look at what this laptop brings to the table.
MSI Crosshair Gaming Laptop
Why we like this laptop
- Solid mid-range GPU: The RTX 4070 mobile has around the same performance as the mobile RTX 3080, and it excels at 1080p gaming. That means you can get very high fps and play games at much higher setting should you wish. With 1440p, it’s good, but often needs DLSS 3 and frame generation to help it reach the more lofty fps heights. This laptop is designed with 1080p gaming in mind, so it should more than deliver the goods in this department.
- Good CPU: This has one of the latest mobile CPUs, the Intel Core i7 14th Gen, which boasts 16 cores and 14 threads. You’ve got a 5.2 GHz Turbo Boost here too. Overall, it’s a great processor for gaming and multi-tasking.
- Brilliant screen: You’ve got a 16-inch FHD screen here which is WUXGA, meaning its 16:10 aspect ratio. What that means is that you’ve got more space to work with on your screen, and a higher pixel density so you don’t lose quality due to the increase in size. It’s good for immersion, but also great for multi-tasking and having different windows open. The screen is also 144hz, more than enough when it comes to refresh rates and will allow you to game in up to 144fps. That’s what you want if you’re playing competitively.
- Ample storage: Packed with a massive 4TB internal SSD, you can essentially forget about needing to upgrade or worry about clearing space for even some of the largest games. This will be plenty for most people.
- Latest RAM: This laptop features the latest DDR5 RAM, which is around double as fast as DDR4. It’s also got a fairly large amount too, coming in at 64GB. That’s more than enough for any system requirements, and will ensure your system is running smoothly.
- Comes with Windows 11 Pro: This is pre-installed on the device and gives you the complete productivity package. That’s a huge win, especially if you’re using this for work.
Who’s this deal for?
This gaming laptop is a good choice for someone who likes to have the option to play the latest games at high-settings, without having to be tethered to home. It’s also great for those who need a punchy laptop for design, rendering, or handling large amounts of data. Personally, for the price, I think it’s a good deal, especially as it has a huge SSD and enormous amount of RAM, which typically drive the price much higher in gaming laptops.
As for whether this is the best time to buy, yes, I’d say it is. It’s only recently gone to this record low (according to camelcamelcamel) and we think it’s going to stay there only for the duration of the sale, before bouncing back up to full price again. Now’s your chance, if you ask me.
