A solid performer for mixed use
At the deal price of $159, you get a 6-core, 12-thread processor that can easily support mixed-use computing on a daily basis and that can outpace the likes of Socket AM4’s Ryzen 5 5800XT. Yes, you’ll have to upgrade to Socket AM5 for the Ryzen 5 7600X, but it’s the cheapest entry to that platform.
A modern processor that still offers a lot
In a year when Socket AM4 is still ticking over, it’s worth noting that this ‘last-gen’ CPU supports DDR5 RAM, PCIe Gen 5.0, and can pair with some of the latest graphics cards on the market. A first step on the AM5 platform
AMD’s entry-level Socket AM5 lineup isn’t exactly clear-cut, between the 7000, 8000, and 9000-Series. But the 7600X is the obvious first step for desktop PCs. Building a new system with this processor means a very healthy – and as yet ongoing – upgrade path, with support through to at least 2029. We like the Ryzen 5 7600X. And if the price is right, say $15 or $20 less than the 9600X, then it makes al ot of sense.
