The Ryzen 7 5800XT was released in 2024 alongside the Ryzen 9 5900XT, and is the factory overclocked and slightly refined version of the Ryzen 7 5800X. It offers mildly better performance than the 5800X in gaming, but besides that, the output is similar. Based on the AM4 platform, it offers a good option for those wanting to build a budget gaming PC. Since it only works with DDR4 RAM, you won’t have to spend a lot of money on DDR5 RAM.

Right now, Amazon shaved 8% off its asking price of $249, meaning that it’ll only cost you $229 with this offer. On top of that, it also comes with a Wraith Prism cooler, meaning that you can skip out on buying a CPU cooler as well.

What we liked about this processor

Still a viable option for modern workflows

Based on the Zen 3 architecture, it offers 8 cores and 16 threads, making it suitable for various workflows such as gaming, video editing, creative tasks, and more. It isn’t the best for AI and extreme workloads, but for everyday use and some demanding tasks, this mid-range offering is more than up for the job. It can easily handle gaming at 1080p and 1440p and can be paired with the modern budget and mid-range GPUs without causing a bottleneck.

Keeps it light on the pocket

The biggest benefit of going with this processor is that it doesn’t dent your budget. The AM4 motherboards are also cheap, even if you go for an X570 chipset offering, and besides that, you won’t have to spend a small fortune on DDR5 RAM, as it only works with DDR4 RAM. It is compatible with up to 128GB RAM, so as long as the motherboard supports that, you can deck out your rig, enabling it to handle extreme multitasking.
