What special about this TV?

There’s a lot to love, but if we’re honest, the devil is in the detail when it comes to TVs nowadays. You can find a load of OLED 65″ option on the market, but separating them out through all the marketing speak is challenging. To save you some time, here’s a quick break down of some of the specs and features that stood out to me personally.

  • OLED Technology with anti-glare: This is pretty awesome, and wasn’t too common up until fairly recently. Anti-glare is one of the best things to have if you’re looking to put this TV in a well-lit room (for obvious reasons).
  • Pantone-Validated colors: This means that the TV has been put some serious testing to ensure it can match colors extremely well, to the point where it’s in line with the standardize system used in industries like the printing and graphic design industry. What that means for you, is that this TV really shows the content how it should be.
  • Motion Xcelerator 144hz: Now this is slightly gimmicky, but it’s actually pretty good if you’re a gamer. It’s essentially like an upscaling technology that makes your images look smoother when they go faster. That means that instead of them ‘jutting’ across the screen, they look incredibly fluid. This is great for gaming and sports, especially if you’re playing competitively (but get a monitor if that’s the case – it’ll be better for you).
  • 4K AI upscaling: 4K upscaling is essential, as much of the content we watch is not native 4K. If you’re streaming, you’ll see some saying 4K and others not – the ones that aren’t will massively benefit from better 4K upscaling. And generally speaking, a better and newer chipset, means the TV will do a better job of it. This one has a beast FYI.

Is it for you?

Even ahead of the Amazon Spring Sale, this is a great deal in its own right. There may be a possibility it’ll drop further, but we won’t know for sure – especially as it’s a 2024 model. The fact it’s at its best price ever according to camelcamelcamel makes it super tempting though.

Personally, I think where the real win is here is the fact it’s an OLED display from one of the best brands for OLED TVs around. Samsung is on the same level as LG and Sony, followed closely by more mid-range options from the likes of Hisense, TCL, and more. If you’re looking to spend less, I’d say a good alternative would be something from Hisense, as many of its TVs have similar upscaling technology and even go a bit further with their motion acceleration. If you’re gaming on a TV though, you’re likely looking for a more immersive experience, rather than using to really play competitively, making some of these 240hz options on the market a little overkill.

Overall, it’s a great deal on an epic TV, and one well worth considering.
