Key features and highlights of the Sony WF-1000XM6
For starters, Sony has equipped the WF-1000XM6 with eight adaptive microphones and dual processors. Rather than simply applying the same noise cancellation continuously, the system can respond to changes in your surroundings in real time. This matters when you’re moving between different environments.
A major part of this system is the HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3e. Sony claims it operates three times faster than the QN2e found in the WF-1000XM5. It’s paired with an improved DAC and amplifier, allowing the earbuds to manage microphone information while also handling audio reproduction.

Phone calls are another area where these earbuds stand out. Each setup uses dual beamforming microphones alongside a bone-conduction sensor and AI-powered noise reduction. The bone-conduction sensor can help distinguish your voice by detecting vibrations created when you speak. That information works alongside the microphones and processing algorithms to separate speech from surrounding sounds.
Sony has also redesigned the earbuds around comfort and a more secure fit. Their ergonomic shape is intended to follow the ear more naturally, while airflow and reduced pressure points help make extended listening more comfortable.
Aside from that, the earbuds provide up to eight hours of playback, with the charging case adding another 16 hours for up to 24 hours in total. The best part is that if they do run low, five minutes of charging provides up to one hour of playback.Â
Are these earbuds worth buying?
The WF-1000XM6 are aimed at buyers who want premium ANC and sound quality in a much smaller package than over-ear headphones. The combination of eight adaptive microphones, dual processors, the faster QN3e processor, and an improved audio system makes noise cancellation and sound their biggest attractions. They also make sense for people who frequently take calls on their earbuds, and their long battery life also makes them suitable for those who are always on the go.Â
