Space-saving compact ’96’ design
More than a marketing win, the Strix Scope II 96 could be a winner for gamers who want a great gaming accessory without compromising on daily usability. The keyboard has 96 per cent of the regular functionality of a keyboard, but it’s 80 per cent of the size, so there’s more room on your desk for mouse movements, a standalone microphone, or other accessories. Plus, it’s wireless with Tri-Mode connectivity: Bluetooth (supporting three devices), 2.4GHz, and USB.
Pre-lubed switches and enhanced acoustics
This version of the ROG Strix Scope II 96 comes with NX Snow Linear Switches, designed to deliver smooth and ‘thocky’ keystrokes. However, the pre-lubed mechanical switches and enhanced acoustics help stabilize those strokes while reducing the stereotypical mechanical keyboard noises. Sound-dampening foam and switch-dampening pads absorb irritating pings and echoes.

The ROG Strix Scope II 96 has three adjustable tilt positions for maximum comfort and comes with a detachable wrist rest, so you have options when you’re typing, gaming, or using the keyboard through the day. The wrist rest is just one accessory that comes with the keyboard, and is joined by a 2-in-1 ROG keycap & switch puller, wireless receiver, USB extender, a ROG-themed spacebar keycap, the USB cable, and a ROG sticker.
What to consider before you buy
It’s hard to recommend a gaming keyboard that’s over $100 when it lacks utility for daily use. This one doesn’t, though, thanks to its 96 per cent design. Owner feedback is impressive, and our only concern is that users with larger hands may find the keyboard a little cramped (we’ve not used it, so we don’t know). Beyond that, it’s the NX Snow Linear Switches variant that is at the deal price mentioned above. The Storm Clicky and Red Linear models are more expensive. The switches are hot-swappable, but it doesn’t look like you get each of the sets with your purchase, so there may be an added cost if you want the option to swap.
