Here’s a closer look at what this monitor brings to the table, and why it’s worth considering.
Alienware AW2723DF Gaming Monitor – 27-inch
What you should know about this monitor
- QHD resolution on a 27-inch screen: This size to resolution ratio is the absolute sweet spot when it comes to monitors, and a favorite for gamers. In short, if you go larger than 27-inches, picture quality can look a less sharp as the pixels have to fill a larger space. With 27 inches, QHD looks incredible.
- 1ms response time: Contrary to what you may think, response time isn’t ‘how fast it responds to your input, but rather how quickly a pixel can change color. That’s important, as it means it can keep up with fast moving gameplay without any issues.
- 280hz refresh rate: Another big win for gamers, especially those who play competitively, as it means you can reach up to 280fps with this monitor. The saying ‘frames win games’ is very much true as, for example, having higher fps makes it easier for you to track targets in first person shooters.
- 95% DCI-P3 color coverage: This is the level of color coverage you’ll want as a minimum if you’re a designer, video or photo-editor. This is usually only found in high-end monitors, and a real win for the price here.
- DisplayHDR 600: This is a VESA standard that means this monitor can reach 600 nits of brightness as a minimum, has a wide color gamit (95% DCI-P3 in this case), and more. These types of monitors are more high-end, with most $300 – $400 monitors being DisplayHDR 400. Another big win.
- Stylish, but functional: AlienFX lighting, a stand with pivot, tilt, swivel and height adjustment, improved cable managment, and even a pretty small footprint – this is a monitor that balances aesthetics and functionality perfectly.
My thoughts on pricing – where are you getting the biggest wins?
Alienware is a super premium brand, possible one of the most high-end options on the market, so you can absolutely find cheaper if you’re going for a 1440p, 27-inch monitor. When considering this deal, it’s more about being able to get something super high-end for less than getting the most bang for you buck or sticking to a budget.
I would say that the biggest wins here are that you’re getting premium design, RGB, and DisplayHDR 600 for less. If you want to get this monitor for even less though, I’d suggest potentially waiting until the Amazon Spring Sales, which could see it tumble further.
