A USB condenser microphone makes sense for gamers who want to ditch their headset mics. And the HyperX QuadCast 2 is a good option, with potential beyond improved voice quality. A podcast- and streaming-friendly model, the QuadCast 2’s regular $150 price feels justified. And that makes Amazon’s current discount even better. At $110, with a $40 discount, it’s hard not to like what the QuadCast 2 brings to the table.

Why we like the HyperX Quadcast 2

Ease of use

As a first condenser mic, the QuadCast 2 is simple to use for PC or console. It’s a plug-and-play USB 3.0 device, with two key functions to control your voice: a one-touch mute so you can immediately stop your voice being heard, and a volume control so you can dial in your perfect level of clear voice comms. But the functions go beyond that to support more than gaming.

Multiple polar patterns

For streamers and podcasters wanting more advanced features, the multiple polar patterns are a massive bonus. You can choose from cardioid (heart-shaped, in front of the mic), omnidirectional (all-around), bi-directional (front and back), and stereo (dual, front-facing) patterns. So for situations where you need more voices or more audio captured, this mic can provide.

Considered features

Several added features reflect the considered design of the QuadCast2. Red LED lighting denotes whether the mic is ‘live’ or ‘muted’, and which polar pattern is being used. Additionally, the mic comes with a removable shock mount and tilt-adjustable stand, and is compatible with both 3/8″ and 5/8″ threads for use on preferred mountings.

What to consider before you buy

While the HyperX QuadCast is a great option for gamers, streamers, and podcasters, you may find better value elsewhere if you have only gaming as a focus. Spending more than $100 on a mic is no small thing, so even with this strong discount, the purchase should make sense. However, if you’re new to streaming, podcasting, or think you may do either in the future, the QuadCast 2 is undoubtedly a good initial pick. And this deal allows you to get it at one of its best prices to date.
