The market for entry-level Android tablets isn’t as compelling as it could be. But if you don’t want to opt for an Amazon Fire Tablet and its limited Fire OS ecosystem, we may have found a good alternative. The TCL TAB A1 is a low-cost Android tablet, sure, but it has some highlights to enjoy. For example, its 90Hz 11-inch display and support for up to 2TB of expanded storage. And at a new deal price, it’s actually less than $200. Right now, you can save $40 and get the TAB A1 for a very nice $180.

Why we like the TCL TAB A1 Android Tablet
A good display for the price
What can you expect for less than $200? Well, an 11-inch 2112 x 1320 pixel display with a 90Hz refresh rate is something you may not expect. The display is sharp and smooth, and that refresh rate will help content and games feel responsive and fluid. Plus, with a peak brightness of 650 nits, it should be usable in daylight and lighter environments without the screen being in direct sunlight.
Up to 2TB storage and healthy RAM
The TCL TAB A1 Android Tablet comes with 128GB of internal storage. However, you can expand that massively, up to (a massive) 2TB of storage, wth a microSD card. That’s more capacity than most users will ever need, but it’s good to see. Speaking of capacity, the RAM is 6GB (+ 10GB virtual memory), so enough for most needs.

Solid feel and battery
Users report that the TAB A1 feels more premium than it is thanks to its solid unibody aluminium design, and that may help with long-term durability too. What helps it in ongoing performance is its all-day battery. That means you can use it without needing to recharge regularly. When you do recharge, the tablet supports 20W fast charging to get you up and running quicker.
What to consider before you buy
The TCL TAB A1 Android Tablet is a budget tablet, so it’s not a premium option, and that shows in some areas. Performance is regarded as okay, and its cameras won’t match more expensive Android models. One thing to consider, though, is ongoing Android support. TCL says the device will support up to Android 17, which is already out, and TCL states that it supports security updates for at least two years after first release. That’s two years from August 2026, which makes support (potentially) limited.
