What does this Micro Center 3-in-1 AM5 bundle offer?
The bundle features an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X with the ASUS B650M-A Prime AX II and 16GB of G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5-6000 memory. Read on below to learn more about these components and what you should expect from them.
CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X
First of all, the bundle comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X. The processor packs six cores, and 12 threads, and has a boost clock speed of 5.3GHz. As for the L3 cache, it has 32MB of that as well. Now if you think a six-core CPU may not perform well in 2025, well, when we tested and reviewed the 7600X, we actually gave it a 4.5 out of 5 rating just because of how impressive its gaming numbers were, especially considering the price.
For our testing, we paired the Ryzen 5 7600X with an RTX 4070 Ti Super. However, to put as much load on the CPU as possible, we played the games at 1080p. On average, we saw around 236 FPS in Days Gone and 295 FPS in CP:2077. Along with that, we also put some synthetic CPU-bounded workloads on the 7600X to gauge its performance. The processor scored 2,955 and 13,236 points in Geekbench single- and multi-core results, and 1,923 and 13,729 points in Cinebench R23 single- and multi-core loads, respectively.
Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B650M-A AX II
For the motherboard, the bundle features the ASUS PRIME B650M-A AX II. It is a pretty decent choice for the Ryzen 5 7600X. You get two M.2 slots (1x PCIe 5.0, 1x PCIe 4.0), and 8x SATA 6Gb/s ports, so you don’t have to worry about storage. There is also a total of 8x rear USB ports and 7x front USB ports. The rear includes 2x USB 3.2 Gen2 ports (Type-A) and the front even features a Type-C USB 3.2 Gen1 connector.
While its VRM may not be the best for overclocking, ASUS has still used a high-quality heatsink with thermal pads to make sure the MOSFETs remain under optimal temperatures to prevent stability issues. Overall, this MicroATX board is one of the best B650 motherboards, it even supports 192GB of DDR5 memory with clock speeds of over 7600MHz, which is very impressive.
RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 16GB DDR5-6000 CL36
Lastly, the bundle also includes a 16GB kit from G.Skill’s Flare X5 series. It is quite a value-oriented line-up, so you don’t get any RGB lighting or other flashy design elements, but the memory clocks at 6000MHz with a tight CAS latency of CL36.
One thing to know about AM5 and Ryzen 7000 processors is that they benefit more from tight latencies than high transfer speeds, and that’s why this 6000MHz CL36 Flare X5 kit is such a good combination for the Ryzen 5 7600X.
