Its Intel Core i5-13420H processor is a solid all-rounder for the price
As far as keeping this gaming laptop cost-effective, this processor is a good way to go that ticks a fair few boxes. It features a 4.6GHz boost clock speed, 8 cores, 12 threads, and a 12MB Intel Smart Cache. That’s going to allow you to use this laptop for high-refresh-rate, low-frame-latency gaming, and relatively demanding multitasking and creative workloads, too.
A screen that ticks the most important boxes
You’ve got a 15.6-inch display here, which is a good size for making the most of FHD resolution, making it appear crisp and clear without having to shell out for something higher-res. It’s 165Hz, which means you can play at up to 165fps, making it a good pick for competitive gaming in particular. And it’s also matte and 300 nits, which is a good combo for use in brighter environments.
Display
This laptop features a 15.6 display, which is an excellent size to make the most of its FHD resolution, making it appear crisp and clear without the added expense of something like WQXGA. It’s also 165Hz, which is fast enough for competitive gaming, but not overkill based on the RTX 4050’s capabilities.
Cost-effective amount of RAM and storage
This configuration opts for 8GB of DDR5 RAM, which is fine for gaming in FHD and improving overall system responsiveness without breaking the bank. The same goes for its more modest 512MB of storage, which can hold a good handful of games, but doesn’t have you spending more on non-performance-related features, which we’d say is a win if you’re looking for the most bang for your buck.
Is this laptop right for you?
For the price, it’s a very good option if you’re looking at entry-level laptops primarily for gaming in FHD, and playing titles that benefit more from higher fps, rather than higher graphics settings.
Finding an RTX 5050 gaming laptop for the same price is rare, to say the least, but they can be spotted hovering around $900 to $1000 when they get hit with decent discounts. I’d recommend checking these out if you want something with more VRAM, and exclusive Blackwell features like MFG, 4th-gen ray tracing cores, and 5th-gen tensor cores.
