The Gigabyte A16 is a solidly specced gaming laptop, combining a snappy Core i7-13620H and RTX 5060 mobile GPU. And if you’re keen on Full HD gaming, then it’s a suitable choice. But there’s a bonus, since Amazon has given it a shiny new discount that makes it a better choice than usual. Now priced at $1,049, it’s $55 cheaper than usual. That saving’s good, too, since it’s a return to the laptop’s lowest price to date.

Why we like the Gigabyte A16 Gaming Laptop

Good productivity

The headline for this laptop, although it’s a ‘gaming’ model, is its productivity and editing power. The Intel Core i7-13620H is a very capable mobile CPU, making the A16 a solid daily-use device, backed by 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB SSD. Although Intel’s Core Ultra mobile GPUs are the latest-gen, the Raptor Lake parts are still plenty good enough in environments like this.

Full HD gaming

Nvidia’s RTX 5060 mobile GPU is aimed at Full HD gaming across anything but the most demanding titles. So you should enjoy smooth 1080p gaming, backed by DLSS 4 technology to boost things beyond what raw GPU power can achieve. For all but the most demanding titles, this laptop should do as advertised.

Considered design

For a more affordable gaming laptop, the Gigabyte A16’s design is particularly impressive. It looks stylish, with hints of gaming potential, and features a 180-degree hinge on its 19.45mm (0.76 inches) Slim Chassis. So you can find a wider range of positions for more comfortable viewing, with or without a stand.

What to consider before you buy

The one key caveat with the Gigabyte A16 is that it caps its RTX 5060 at 85W TGP (total graphics power). While that may save on heat and power usage, it means the GPU can be prevented from boosting to faster clock speeds and from delivering more frames per second in games. One of the best gaming laptops? No, sadly.

Whether that’s a huge issue depends on how much you want to game on this laptop and whether your budget stretches beyond the deal price. If you’re looking for a productivity laptop that can also game, this deal is solid. If the reverse is true, another option below may be for you.
