Table of Contents
The Nitro V 16S AI is a well-balanced entry-level gaming laptop that combines a modern RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, a sensible 16:10 180Hz display, and an excellent 32GB DDR5 RAM configuration (great for multi-tasking and web browsing with lots of tabs open). This isn’t a machine you’ll be able to play the most demanding games on the higher settings with (see the bottom of this page for alternative deals on those), however if you’re looking to play older titles, and/or newer titles on low-medium settings, it should do you just fine. If you want an affordable, but versatile gaming notebook for both play and productivity, it is a strong choice for just $1,199.99.
In practical use, the RTX 5060 Laptop GPU and 180Hz display make the laptop well suited to high-refresh esports play and good mainstream AAA gaming with tuned settings. The 32GB of DDR5 helps the system stay smooth with background applications open, while the 1TB SSD keeps the overall experience responsive. It is also a more balanced machine than many laptops at this tier because it does not overspend on display resolution while underspeccing the GPU.
What we like about the Acer Nitro V 16S
RTX 5060 Laptop GPU gives it real gaming credibility
Unlike entry systems relying on integrated graphics, this Nitro V 16S includes a dedicated RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, which puts it into proper gaming-laptop territory. That means modern AAA titles, better ray tracing support, and access to newer NVIDIA features like DLSS 4.5, which can meaningfully improve frame rates and image quality in supported games.

32GB DDR5 is a strong memory configuration for the class
A 32GB RAM setup is a major strength here. It gives the laptop plenty of room for gaming, multitasking, streaming tools, creative applications, and heavy browser use without feeling tight. That makes the machine more versatile than many gaming laptops that still ship with 16GB as standard.
16-inch 180Hz 16:10 display is a good match for gaming and general use
The 1920 x 1200 resolution keeps GPU demands realistic for this hardware tier, while the 180Hz refresh rate makes motion look much smoother in faster games. The 16:10 aspect ratio is also a practical advantage outside gaming, giving more room for documents, editing timelines, and web work.
USB4 and strong I/O add flexibility
USB4 support is a welcome inclusion because it improves compatibility with docks, high-speed external storage, and display setups. Combined with HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, multiple USB ports, and Wi-Fi 6, the machine is much more flexible than a basic midrange laptop.
Cooling and control features suggest good long-session usability
The dual-fan, quad-intake, quad-exhaust cooling setup is clearly aimed at maintaining stable performance during longer gaming sessions. NitroSense and related software tools also make it easier to tune system behavior depending on whether you are gaming, working, or just trying to keep fan noise down.
Who’s this Acer Nitro deal for?
This laptop is ideal for users who want a capable all-round gaming machine with enough RAM for multitasking and enough GPU performance for modern games at solid settings. It also suits students or creators who want one laptop that can handle both work and gaming without major compromises. That being said, if your goal is premium 1440p laptop gaming at very high settings, you’ll want a laptop with stronger GPU and higher-resolution screen (see below for some examples).
