noblechairs’ latest fully adjustable ergonomic chair blurs the line between gaming and everyday use, delivering all the stylish design features you’d want for an office seat, while giving gamers the premium, breathable materials that keep temperatures under wraps over long gaming sessions.

The AURA comes in two specific design options: the AURA TX Anthracite and the AURA AtmoShell Black – with materials being the only factor separating the two models. We’ve got our hands on the AURA AtmoShell Black today, a ‘hyperbreathable’ AtmoShell material that merges the best qualities of both PU and Vinyl.

Retaining all the tried-and-tested characteristics of any great noblechair, the AURA provides high-end materials with carefully thought-out design features, resulting in a product that is both a pleasure to look at and to sit in. Like always, we’ll be putting the AURA to the test to see how it compares to some of the market’s similarly priced alternatives, alongside other models in the noblechairs lineup.

Assembly

I’ve built quite a few chairs in the past couple of months, and I have to say, this one is one of the easiest. Now, I’m not suggesting that any chair is necessarily difficult to put together, but you always find a slight issue when putting them together – usually due to manufacturing inaccuracies. A bolt doesn’t quite fit, the arm is fiddly and awkward, the backrest can be difficult to mount, etc.

However, none of these common assembly issues cropped up when building the AURA. My overarching thought while putting the chair together was, “everything fits incredibly well” – a theme that continues throughout this review.

Every part of this chair felt like it had been precision-made. Screwing in the arms was a doddle; aligning the backrest holes with the screw holes was perfect, and even putting the casters on the wheel base felt smooth. Each part of the chair slotted into place as you’d expect, with an almost premium connection – if that makes sense.

The chair took me about 25 minutes to assemble. The instructions were extremely clear, and the final build feels rock solid.

Build quality

Not to labour the point, but the build quality of this chair is fantastic. Premium materials have been used throughout the design, and the manufacturing of the individual parts is to a high standard. Like I said above, all the fittings and fixtures are pretty much spot on – with almost zero misalignment when looking at the various screw holes and bolt fixtures.

The breathable AtmoShell hybrid leather gives this chair a really premium feel, with its finish complemented by its usability characteristics. The stitching also looks very high-end, as does the finish on the other panels. The 4D arms offer a solid feel with very little wobble – something we’ve come to appreciate after reviewing most of the market’s notable options. Some of the actuation levers are a little stiff, so we’ll have to play that by ear to see whether they loosen up. Having said that, in our experience, this is usually a sign of something well-made.

Comfort

Before getting into the comfort section of this review, it’s worth remembering that comfort is subjective. What feels comfortable to me may not feel the same to someone else, and vice versa.

With that said, I’ve used the AURA for around a week now and for me, it’s a little on the firm side. The seat padding is around a 7/10 for firmness, as is the backrest. Once you add the lumbar support into the mix, the backrest becomes even firmer – so factor that in if you’re looking for a particular soft/spongey experience.

With that being said, in our experience, firmer chairs can take a few weeks to bed in – so I’ll probably come back to this at the end of the month to give my final thoughts on the comfort of the chair.

I do like the synchro tilt mechanism used in this chair. This isn’t necessarily a new feature of modern chairs – many offerings in the last year or so have a similar feature. However, that doesn’t take anything away from the comfort it provides. The adjustable headrest is also a handy feature to have, especially if you’re on the taller side like myself – it’s nice to have that extra headspace.

Why the noblechairs AURA AtmoShell Black is worth buying

So, down to the million-dollar – or $599 in this case – question, is the noblechairs AURA Atmoshell worth it?

For us, it comes down to what you prioritize in a chair. If those priorities revolve around premium build quality, high-end materials, and innovative design features, then this chair is probably right up your street.

Of course, the AURA is not a cheap gaming chair, but at the same time, it’s not crazily expensive either. At the $600 price point, I’d be happy saying it offers decent value for money – especially when you compare it against other, similarly priced alternatives in today’s market.

There are a lot of chairs available for $500-$600 these days, and the manufacturing quality and materials used across these can vary dramatically. For me, the AURA is certainly on the more premium side when it comes to chairs of this price point. Yes, it does have some ‘breaking-in’ issues, but these should relax over time, hopefully.

What we like about this chair

The first thing we like about this chair is the AtmoShell hybrid leather coating – a breathable material that keeps you cool over long gaming/ work sessions. It’s not really something you notice straight away, but is definitely something you appreciate when you’re grinding away during the hotter months of the year. I used the AURA as my office chair, so I’d be using it for 8-10 hours a day, and at no point did I ever feel myself getting overly warm. It’s not only practical, but also looks the part too – great for both office and gaming setups.

That leads us nicely onto our next positive – the aesthetics. As just mentioned, the AURA doesn’t necessarily lean into one particular style; it offers a more neutral aesthetic, which is great for a multitude of setups. The clean, stylish design is great for both office and gaming environments, with a slight bucket design that gives it that slight gaming edge – without being overly exaggerated.

The synchro-tilt mechanism is another feature that makes the pro list. This particular feature is geared towards improving the overall comfort of the chair – specifically when it comes to leaning back. In essence, it enables the backrest and the seat of the chair to operate in synchronization, improving comfort throughout the full 22 degrees of recline motion.

The 4D interchangeable armrests are also worth touching upon, as they offer great positional versatility and swappable functionality. While the 4D movements are welcome here, they’re not exactly a new feature. However, swappable armrest pads are a feature you don’t always get – and one that is very welcome.

Final Thoughts

The AURA AtmoShell is another example of the high-quality design and production that noblechairs bring to the table with any new arrival. It features high-end materials throughout, alongside a stylish design that is suited to multiple setups. For me, it’s a great chair that, despite its $599 price point, offers good value for money.

If you’re looking for a premium chair that blurs the lines between gaming and office aesthetics, while providing top materials that are geared around comfort and longevity, then this chair should be high on your list of future consideraitons.
