The AMD RX 6700 XT is among the perfect mid-range GPUs in the market. It has an accessible price, great availability, good features, and the performance is strong. On the other side, the Nvidia RTX 3060 is one of the worst 30-series GPUs from Team Green. The prices don’t coalesce with the specs, the availability has been poor since it was released, and, as almost never happens, the Ti version of the 3060 is a far more efficient decision.

Thus, the RX 6700 XT is a better GPU than the RTX 3060. According to the comparison website UserBenchmark.com, the 6700 XT is 22% faster, 31% more efficient in getting high FPS, and 26% better at overclocking. These results come from multiple tests that the website does every day, and not only show how AMD dominates in the mid-range field but also how not every unit in the series gets the same detailed care. The RTX 3060 sometimes looks like it was made to fill the space.

Both GPUs are built for 1080p and 1440p gaming. And despite Nvidia’s DLSS, GSync, and Reflex features, the 6700 XT gets better results with pure raw power alone. At this level, AMD specs, clock speed, and cache storage overcome the 3060 by a long shot.

RX 6700 XT VS RTX 3060: Specs

 RTX 3060RX 6700 XT
CUDA Cores / Stream Processors35842,560
Tensor Cores112
RT Cores / Ray Accelerators2440
Memory12 GB GDDR612GB GDDR6
Memory bus192 bit192 bit
Memory bandwidth360GB/s384GB/s
Boost clock speed1777 MHz2581 MHz

Nvidia’s best feature in this range is the tensor cores. They make use of advanced technology to add these pieces of equipment to help them boost performance. Tensor cores are specialized hardware components that are used to accelerate machine learning and artificial intelligence tasks. The RTX 3060 has 112 tensor cores, while the RX 6700 XT does not have any tensor cores.

Both graphics cards have 12GB of GDDR6 memory and a 192-bit memory bus, but the RX 6700 XT has slightly higher memory bandwidth at 384 GB/s compared to 360 GB/s on the RTX 3060.

Overall, the RTX 3060 could be better suited for tasks that require a larger number of CUDA cores and RT cores, such as ray tracing and machine learning, while the RX 6700 XT is better suited for tasks that require a higher clock speed and memory bandwidth, such as gaming and other graphics-intensive applications.
