Nvidia’s RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti are finally here, and there are a lot of questions surrounding their performance and pricing, such as; are these GPUs worth investing in? Can they compete with AMD GPUs? And how far apart are they from each other?

We've tested and reviewed the RTX 5060 Ti in-house and will answer the last question by drawing a comparison. We haven't gotten our hands on the RTX 5060 yet, as the card isn’t due to launch for another month. Like always, we’ll be updating this article with the latest performance details as and when we get our hands on the non-Ti version of the 5060.

If you're excited to get the RTX 5060 or the 5060 Ti for your next budget gaming PC and are wondering where to buy them, we've got you covered.

Comparing the performance of Nvidia’s RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti

The RTX 5060 Ti and the RTX 5060 don't seem that far apart when it comes to hardware, but the 5060 Ti does have a lead, and the higher TDP should enable its cores to run faster and handle more complex tasks easily.

RTX 5060 Ti vs RTX 5060 4K performance

The RTX 5060 Ti and the RTX 5060 are both budget GPUs, and generally, cards in this category don't have a pleasant time rendering 4K frames, but DLSS 4 might help them churn out good numbers.

We'll start with Cyberpunk 2077, as that title has high graphical fidelity and gives a tough time to the graphics card. We got 34 FPS at 4K in this game with the RTX 5060 Ti. However, with ray tracing turned on and DLSS set to performance mode, the FPS jumped up to 89, which is an 89% increase in performance.

In Doom Eternal, the RTX 5060 Ti churned out 131 FPS, which is great, and in Counter-Strike 2, it delivered 87 FPS. Overall, the RTX 5060 Ti could manage 50+ FPS in most of the titles we tested it with, and DLSS 4 helped it perform even better, but natively, 1440p is more suited for it.

We'll update this section with the benchmarks for the RTX 5060 as soon as we've tested it.

RTX 5060 Ti vs RTX 5060 1440p performance

We'll take the example of the same titles for consistency and also to showcase the performance difference to give you a clear idea of what this GPU is capable of. In Cyberpunk 2077, at 1440p, the 5060 Ti managed 78 FPS, which is 78% better performance from the get-go.

In Doom Eternal, this budget graphics card churned out 231 FPS (55% performance difference). In Counter-Strike 2, this pattern continued as we saw a 64% increment with 170 FPS, which is pretty great. However, it isn't surprising that this GPU had better performance at 2K as this resolution is easier to render and is the sweetspot for budget or mid-range cards.

RTX 5060 Ti vs RTX 5060 synthetic performance

Synthetic testing is done to put the GPU through various simulated workflows and see how it'll perform. We tested the RTX 5060 Ti with Fire Strike Ultra, Time Spy Extreme, and Port Royal, which gauge 4K rendering with DX11, DX12, and ray tracing output.

That being said, in Fire Strike Ultra, the 5060 Ti managed 9,526 points, and in Time Spy Extreme, which is more taxing, we got 7,310 points. In Port Royal, this graphics card churned out 10,271 points. This performance is great, especially compared to its predecessor, but to give you a full view, we'll update this article with the synthetic testing results of the RTX 5060 when we've tested it.

Pricing: which offers better value?

The RTX 5060 Ti, 8GB and 16GB, is set to launch with an MSRP of $379 and $429, respectively. So, you'll have to pay $50 extra to double the VRAM, so it makes little sense for anyone to go with the 8GB variant or the RTX 5060, which is priced at $299 but will release in May

Verdict

The RTX 5060 Ti showcased excellent performance at 1440p and even managed to churn out good FPS at 4K. With the help of DLSS 4, it managed to easily surpass 4K60 in Cyberpunk 2077, meaning it can punch above its weight class with the help of upscaling.

On top of that, it'll only cost you $50 extra to get the 16GB variant, which doesn't bode well for the RTX 5060 as it only has 8GB VRA,M and its performance should also be less than that of the RTX 5060 Ti. So, the 5060 Ti is the clear winner in this showdown.
