It is finally here; Apple has announced the next product of its flagship iPhone series, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, on 15th September. There are many questions that we have in mind about the new features of iPhone 15. However, the biggest question that has been around for several years now is when Apple will switch to USB-C. Has that happened now? Is iPhone 15 USB-C? Yes.
Is the iPhone 15 USB-C? Yes
The Apple iPhone 15 is USB-C compatible. Apple confirmed in October 2022 that it would finally switch from its proprietary Lightning connector to the widely used USB-C. The decision was made on the device to use a USB-C port on the new iPhone iterations, to meet the European Union's regulations to use a single universally accepted charger. This is designed to help reduce e-waste.

USB-C was first introduced to us in 2015 and is now everywhere. Many chargeable electronic devices use USB-C, from phones to laptops and wireless earbuds to gaming consoles. It makes sense that iPhones will now join the throng, as iPads (and Apple’s latest Macbook range) already utilize the connector.
Looking at the prevalence of USB-C, the EU passed a law in 2022 that every smartphone, tablet, and camera sold in the region should have a USB-C charging port by 2024. To abide by this regulation and continue selling its products, Apple has done this with iPhones starting with the iPhone 15.
Alongside USB-C adoption, Apple is updating its AirPods Pro model to USB-C compatibility and is also introducing some USB-C accessories alongside. These accessories include charging cables and a USB-C to Lightning dongle.
Besides the USB-C, the iPhone has some minor design and camera changes. The camera will be 48 megapixels, better than the iPhone 14's 12 megapixels. Moreover, it will also feature a 12-megapixel camera sensor that can take ultrawide clicks.
Will the iPhone 15 come with a cable?
Yes, the iPhone 15 will come with a USB-C 2.0 cable. However, with only 480 megabits speed, the USB-C 2.0 cable is not that fast.
Does iPhone 15 have USB 3 support?
The iPhone 15 Pro models (Pro and Pro Max) will offer USB 3 support via USB-C cable. This means data can transfer at 10 gigabits per second, compared to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models, which will make use of the USB 2.0 standard (480 megabits)
What different colors will the iPhone 15 be available in?
iPhone 15 will be available in pink, yellow, green, blue, and black colors.
