Corsair K70 Pro review: A feature-packed wired keyboard that ticks most of the right boxes
Table of Contents
Corsair's staple keyboard has plenty to offer and has gone through many generations of iterations to get to where it is today. I got hands-on with the Corsair K70 Pro White, which has the manufacturer's switches and signature sleek design. So here's how it did as an option for a gaming mechanical keyboard.
- Form factor: Full layout
- Key switches: CORSAIR OPX optical-mechanical
- Keycaps: PBT Double-shot Pro
- Connectivity: Wired
- Dimensions: 445x166x40mm
- Weight: ~1660g
The Corsair K70 ticks almost all the right boxes. It has fast switches, loads of buttons and utilities to use via iCUE software, and plenty of RGB customization. Being wired and it not being damped could be a bit of deal-breaker for some, but not for many. This is an excellent keyboard, which looks and feels great, and is well worth considering for your setup.
- Fast polling rate and switches
- Plentiful controls on board
- Per key RGB for some great customization
- Onboard memory to save user profiles
- Very sturdy and well-built
- Takes up a load of desk space with wrist rest
- Not damped, so sometimes gives a metallic twang when typing
- No wireless connectivity
Design and features
The Corsair K70 Pro is a sleek and stylish keyboard, especially in white. Its aluminium frame gives it a durable and solid build quality, preventing it from bending or moving when you're typing away.

It's a full-sized keyboard featuring a complete set of keys, arrows, and numpad, which does mean it takes up quite a bit of space. The board is actually even bigger than most, as it features a relatively large row above the keys for status lights and a few controls. This has options to change profiles and brightness, there are Windows locks are on the top left, and the volume wheel and mute are on the top right. The status white lights are in the middle top.
Above the keyboard are four buttons to control media playback in addition to the standard keys usually featured, making it a pretty featureful board and expanding on previous iterations. You’ll also find a magnetic wrist rest too, with all the obviously benefits that brings.
At the top edge is a detachable USB C port for the white cable and a tournament switch. So, if you need to focus on gaming, it enables static lights and disables accidental macro activations.
Being a Corsair product, it also uses iCUE software for programming and controlling it; as it has onboard memory, you could just set it once and uninstall it if you wanted. But it gives you plenty of customization on the colors and macros.
Pricing
The keyboard’s MSRP is $179.99/£179.99, putting it in the middle of Corsair’s price range. Indeed, it’s not the most expensive board, but it’s not the cheapest. However, for the price, some other features would be excellent, including wireless connectivity, as many boards offer it at this price point.
Performance
I've used this keyboard in the office for a while and an older version at home. It is a true staple of a keyboard with plenty to offer when it comes to driving it daily. With so many controls and sizes, it is an excellent choice in general.
Of course, it’s not made for a small desk, but it pays off when you're typing out thousands of words with the space for it. Thanks to the wrist rest and adjustable feet on the underside, it doesn’t feel cramped and is more relaxed. However, they are only one tier, and having another adjustment to position it better might pay off.
This model has the Corsair OBX switches and 1.5mm double-shot keycaps, making it a durable and responsive experience with a nice feel. The switches are mechanical and optical, giving them excellent responsiveness. The 8,000Hz hyper-polling rate makes them a responsive and fast-acting option, which can be set in the software to customize your preference.
The sound is a bit more metallic and clicky, as the aluminum frame isn't dampened. So, the sound reverberates more, but this is not unusual for a prebuilt board from a company with a wide range of products.

Conclusion
Regarding known reputable brands, Corsair is a pretty giant name in the market, so it’s no surprise that its keyboard is a solid option to consider. Although it might be a bit expensive for something wired, it’s worth it, as it’s a full size board packed with features. This is a great all-in-one solution for every day usage as well as gaming. Corsair once again hits it out the park.
