At Computex 2024, AMD unveiled the Ryzen 9000 series CPUs and the 800-series motherboard chipsets. Along with the upcoming CPUs and motherboards, AMD has also made some interesting announcements.

In the roadmap for future products, the company unveiled the next lineup of CPU cores, which is Zen 6. While the exact specifications and release window are not known, the work for the next-gen architecture seems to be underway.

Zen 6 will power the next generation of products

To begin with, the Zen 6 architecture, much like the Zen 5 architecture, will have two cores – Zen 6 and Zen 6c. These cores will be a level up from the Zen 5 cores and will power the next-gen desktops, laptops, handhelds, and servers.

Codenamed “Morpheus”, the Zen 6 cores are expected to bring in better performance than the Zen 5 cores that are set to debut later this month. The Zen 5 and Zen 5c are based on 4nm and 3nm process nodes, it is likely that the Zen 6 will have more advanced process technologies from TSMC. There’s also Zen 6c, which is known as “Monarch”.

As per the speculations, Zen 6 and Zen 6c will be seen in the next-gen lineup of desktop CPUs, which are currently codenamed “Medusa”. Further, the cores will also feature in the next generation of Ryzen AI series APUs as well as the 6th Gen EPYC “Venice” CPUs. Aside from the Zen 6 reveal, AMD has not really given any more details about the next-gen cores – so the release date, products based on these cores, price, or anything else is unknown. AMD simply confirmed that the Zen 6 cores are in progress.

Considering that there was almost a 2 year gap between Zen 4 and Zen 5, it is likely that we will see the Zen 6 cores in 2026. However, this is a complete guess based on the previous timeline.

In any case, we have the AMD 9000 series, based on the Zen 5 architecture, launching on July 31st. AMD has already revealed the specs for the upcoming processors as well as the motherboard chipsets

While AMD has refrained from divulging prices, some retailers have already listed the CPUs, revealing its price in some regions. On the same note, if you’re planning to get your hands on the new AMD processors, keep track of where to buy Ryzen 9000 series CPUs.
