A few days ago, MSI officially confirmed that the upcoming MSI Claw A8 “Ryzen Edition” will launch in summer 2025, most likely later this month. This news has excited many fans, especially those eager to get their hands on the first handheld powered by the Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor. While the company hasn't announced an exact release date, pre-orders for the device have now gone live in China.

MSI Claw A8 pre-orders are now live in China

Translated as the ‘MSI Claw 8 Ryzen Edition’ in the region, MSI shared the update on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging platform. In the post, the company described the MSI Claw A8 as a “good companion for summer vacation travel” and announced that the handheld's pre-sale is officially open. Those who are interested in pre-ordering the device can head over to JD, a popular retailer in China.

The listing doesn't include a specific release or shipping date, but it's expected to launch later this month. According to the promotional image, the MSI Claw A8 is being offered at a subsidized price of ¥5949.15, which is roughly $830 USD. This discounted price is available through Cloud QuickPass payments, thanks to a government subsidy of 15%. Without the discount, the price rises to ¥6841, or about $954 USD. For now, there's no word on when the device will be released in other countries, including the U.S. But based on this pricing, there’s a chance it up cost up to (or even above) $1,000 internationally.

In any case, unlike the original MSI Claw, which featured an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, the MSI Claw A8 Ryzen Edition will come equipped with the new Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor and AMD Radeon 890M graphics. It will also support up to 24GB of RAM and feature a 1080p display with a 120Hz refresh rate. On top of that, it promises better ergonomics, making it more comfortable for long gaming sessions.
