Rumors have been floating around for a while that Apple is working on its first foldable iPhone. Now, things are starting to get more interesting. A known tipster on X, Jukan, recently shared estimated specifications of the device. While Apple hasn’t confirmed anything yet, these give us a better picture of what the first foldable iPhone could offer.

According to the post, Apple’s foldable phone might come with a 7.8-inch inner screen and a 5.5-inch cover screen. That’s slightly smaller than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which has an 8-inch main display and a 6.5-inch outer screen. When folded, the iPhone could be around 9 to 9.5mm thick, and when unfolded, around 4.5 to 4.8mm. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 measures 8.9mm folded and 4.2mm unfolded.

Under the hood, the foldable iPhone is expected to be powered by Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chip, built on a 2nm process, along with the C2 baseband for connectivity. It could offer 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and even 1TB. Camera specs also look solid, with two 48MP sensors – one wide and one ultra-wide.

One of the most exciting details comes from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has shared some insight into the device’s estimated display. According to Kuo, Apple plans to use a special crease-free display solution developed by Samsung Display. This will help the iPhone Fold avoid the common crease problem seen in other foldable phones. The key to this technology is a metal plate that helps reduce stress on the folding part of the screen, making it more durable and less likely to show lines or damage over time.

Reportedly, the metal plates will be produced by Fine M-Tec, a company that’s working closely with Samsung Display. Production is expected to start in early 2026, and Apple could ship up to 15 million units that year. The manufacturing process will include laser drilling to improve strength and keep the screen looking smooth, even after repeated folding.
