A new update from AMD has confirmed that the entire Ryzen 9000-series release dates will be pushed back to August 8th (9700X & 9600X) and August 15th (9950X & 9900X.
Details from an AMD PR have come to light today, with the brand stating that the next-gen series of CPUs will sadly be delayed until the 2nd week in August. The original release date for the Ryzen 9 9950X and Co was set to the 31st of July – meaning the delay will only push the date back around two weeks.
The statement confirms that several of the original samples sent out did not meet the testing & QA process standards, leading to a full recall. Since then, AMD has sent out a new batch of samples that have undergone the proper QA process.

In a statement from AMD’s PR to Wccftech, the following was said:
We appreciate the excitement around Ryzen 9000 series processors. During final checks, we found the initial production units that were shipped to our channel partners did not meet our full quality expectations. Out of an abundance of caution and to maintain the highest quality experiences for every Ryzen user, we are working with our channel partners to replace the initial production units with fresh units.
As a result, there will be a short delay in retail availability. The Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X processors will now go on sale on August 8th and the Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X processors will go on sale on August 15th. We pride ourselves in providing a high-quality experience for every Ryzen user, and we look forward to our fans having a great experience with the new Ryzen 9000 series.

Ryzen 9000 series delays are met with mixed emotions
The news has been met with mixed feelings from fans of the brand, with some saying “better safe than sorry”, while others say “It has become some kind of tradition by now for AMD to somehow fumble their own releases one way or another.”. One individual says the delay is “very sus”, especially this close to an officially published release date.
Overall, it seems the community has taken the delays well, with many touching on the fact that Intel isn’t such a compelling option right now – with instability issues for their 13th and 14th-Gen chips still ongoing.
Most people seem happy to wait a couple of weeks for the chips, and in fact, it gives retailers and consumers more time to prepare themselves for the launch. Hopefully this will be the last delay we see on the new Ryzen chips – but only time will tell.
