The excellent Apple Mac Mini is one of the best budget PCs you can buy, and the punchy 2024 M4 model is back to its Black Friday price thanks to a discount at Amazon.
The M4 chip-powered Mini performs and looks great, and easily covers the basic needs of a home PC. Plus, its current discount means you can get it for $479. That’s $120 lower than its $599 list price (a 20% drop). That’s not to be sniffed at, as it’s the lowest price this model has seen since July.

M4 performance
The elephant in the room is that 2026 is approaching, and this is a 2024 model. However, the M4 chip inside the Mac Mini still provides high-end performance and will be plenty for basic PC needs for years to come. It’s optimized for machine learning and AI tools and is a highly efficient chip. For productivity and office needs, it’s ample.
Diminutive design
The Mac Mini M4 looks great because it’s an Apple device, but it’s also a real space-saver. The Mini has a small footprint, measuring just ‎5 x 5 x 2 inches. The things you’ll need to worry about in terms of space are the devices you connect it to, like a monitor. And the Mini is light, should you want to move it, at just 1.5 pounds.
Excellent connectivity
Despite the Mini’s compact size, it’s well populated with useful ports. It includes 1x Thunderbolt, 1x HDMI, and 1x Gigabit Ethernet ports on its rear. It also features front-facing USB-C ports, plus a headphone jack. For monitor support, you could run three at once: two in 6K at 60Hz and one up to 5K at 60Hz over Thunderbolt (or 4K at 60Hz over HDMI).

What to consider before you buy
The Mac Mini M4 is a 2024 model with plenty of performance to give. At the deal price, it’s an even better option for a budget PC. However, you do need to consider what you want your PC for. This model has 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, which isn’t upgradable. So, if you want a system that can grow with you, an upgradeable Windows option may be a better option.
