Counter-Strike finally gets VR, as a mod ports CS 1.6 to the Meta Quest

Modding is once again bringing another dimension to older games. As we previously covered, 3DSen enhances NES games with 3D visuals; now, a mod for Counter-Strike is porting it to virtual reality. Reddit user Ibrufen has showcased this mod running in CS 1.6, played on the popular community map Pool Day (fy_pool_day), and it already looks well-polished.
The mod offers a great new perspective in the game, which came out nearly 25 years ago now. Although CS2 has given us the map back, CS 1.6 remains a classic that still lives on at a smaller scale. u/Ibrufen does comment on the fact that it could do with some improvements, and since it is an early build of the mod, they are expected to come. It’s an interesting mod to keep an eye on, as it revives the classic game.

How to get CSVR
The mod is exclusive to Patreon, and you must subscribe to Team Beef to gain access to it. They are dedicated to creating VR conversion ports and mods, which were established back in 2019. So, CS 1.6 is their next target, as on June 20th, they released this CSVR in development mode.
To play the mod, the first thing to know is that it currently supports the Meta Quest 2, Pro, 3, and budget 3S model, as well as the Pico Neo 3 and Pico 4. Provided you already own Counter-Strike, then you need to download the APK and install via SideQuest (available for premium Patreon users).
You then start up CSVR to create the folder on initialization. From that folder, you can copy over the files needed by the headset, so you drag them over, after which you can start the game and enjoy it.
